Angel was an outstanding and knowledge server. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and enjoyed a fabulous meal and a delicious tequila tasting guided by Angel’s enthusiasm and expertise.

It's a must try while in Mayakoba make sure to make a reservation as it's unlikely to get a table in a timely manner without one. Try the macaroons for dessert they are so good
INCREDIBLE!!!!! Gracious hosts & friendly welcome, and the whole meal experience was delightful. Loved the menu lights and our server was patient and helpful and timed the service perfectly. Sat outdoor on the patio over the lagoon and had the most delicious and peaceful dinner experience. MUCHAS GRACIAS!!!
Agave Azul overlooks a lagoon at The Rosewood Mayakoba resort in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. The restaurant has a seafood infused menu with an asian flair. The restaurant is kid friendly, and the servers are very attentive. My favorites from off the menu were the advocado crab truffle, sushi, and the sautéed shrimp with "salsa macha-miso."

Did no meet our expectations in any aspect. We were expecting a modern Japanese restaurant in the standards of a Rosewood hotel and of the nicest restaurants in Miami, where we usually go out for dinner. But the decoration is basic and poor (for the expected standards), very short menu for food and drinks, missing items, hot drinks. The staff was friendly and trying to provide a good service, but we didn't really like the starters, the drink was not cold enough, so we decided to move to another restaurant at same hotel with great value of food and service.
We went here excited to eat at Reosewood's signature restaurant. We were disappointed to say the least. Instead of the regular menu, it was an Asian tasting menu that consisted of 6 tiny rolls, soggy tempura vegggies, 2 kinds of curry, fried rice and a pad Thai. All for the “bargain” price of $400. The food just lacked on all levels. And the price was ridiculous when you consider the cost of the ingredients. There were only a few other tables occupied for dinner at 7:30pm. So I guess that was telling. Anyhow, Rosewood needs to up their game in the food department and lower their prices. Banyon Tree gets it. And they are extremely busy.
I was super excited at the beginning because I had heard a lot of good opinions about the place and the food. First impression: old furniture from the 2000's it simply does not fit the price that is charged for night (mostly the whole Rosewood Hotel, even Fairmont is updated in this matter). Once you start eating it'll take you a minute to realize that everything is super overpriced and the quality of the food is just awful. The service was the only thing that wasn't that bad. It was supposed to be the best restaurant in Rosewood and it is the worst in all of Mayakoba.
Restaurant was extremely dark. Had to use phone flashlights to see food and for grandkids to color. So is not really family-friendly in our opinion. However the staff where very nice in getting the kids coloring books. For us we got a sushi roll, ceviche, and drinks. Ceviche was very good but sushi roll was fair. It had slight fishy smell which leads me to question the freshness.

A high bar is set at Rosewood Mayakoba but Agave Azul finds a way to meet and exceed. Diego (manager) and his team were so attentive to us and our one year old. We came here a few years ago and it was just as impressive. Also, for any parents looking at reviews this is the best kids menu on property.

Terrible. Have eaten there before and it was great. Space is still beautiful but getting worn. The steam buns with soft shell were awesome as was the curry. Went way down hill from there. Tried to order Sake off the list. First 3 on list were not available. Settled for something that was fine but why do you have a list if it is not available. Duck Carnitas were a big bowl of grease. Let the waiter know he didn't seem to care. Rolls are fine at best but for $40/roll+ they should be much better. Tried to order a glass of Mezcal off the list but none were available after the 4th or 5th try. I just gave up. Again waitstaff could care less. Poor service - average food at best. huge money. Pass.
This is a fantastic property for business or leisure. Staff are exceptional. Its perfect for business or for couples. Probably leas so for small kids or real party animals as its spread out and very peaceful. Rooms are well appointed. Classy place and I would recommend.
I recently had the experience of staying at Andaz Mayakoba on Sep 5th, and I have to say this is below my expectation for Andaz. For the record, I am a globalist that stays at Hyatt hotels all the time and this is the first time I had to leave a negative comment about a Hyatt hotel I stayed at. Below are the reasons: - Late Suite Availability: I arrived at the hotel around 4 PM and requested a suite upgrade. I was told that no complimentary upgrade would be granted (even though I was a globalist member and suites were available). Because it was my mom's birthday, I opted to pay nearly $400 out-of-pocket for a suite upgrade, to make my mom happy. However, the suite was not ready until 6 PM. We had to wait around for 2 hours. This two-hour delay disrupted our schedule and made the first impressions of the establishment quite negative. - Scheduled Power Outage: We were not informed of a scheduled power outage from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM the next day at the time of my upgrade purchase. Had I been aware, I would have reconsidered the upgrade entirely. I only got the notice of the power outage after I paid for the suite upgrade. - Unmentioned Water Outage: While the certificate mentioned the power outage, it failed to inform us about the accompanying water outage. In 100°F+ heat, our family was stuck in a suite with no AC, no water, and no Wi-Fi. That we paid over 400 dollars for. No water, no AC, no power, no wifi. - Non-Functional Mini-Bar: The mini-bar fridge in our suite did not work at all, so our drinks were not cold. I had to request ice multiple times and each time it took more than 30 minutes to arrive. - Unresponsive Personal Concierge: I was told that I would have a personal concierge to fulfill any of my requests. However, when I requested drinks around 9 PM and then water around 10 AM the following morning, I didn't get any response until 11 AM, essentially defeating the purpose of this service. - Unreturned Personal Items: I left my toothbrush and other personal items in the suite. Despite texting the concierge about retrieving them, I never received any response, further demonstrating the lack of effective service. I would have expected better experience with Hyatt Regency or other Hyatt brands. This Andaz hotel is not up to par with the level of customer service you would expect from Andaz chain. Don't recommend to anyone.
I have stayed at over 75 different Hyatt properties and the Andaz Mayakoba is now in my top three Hyatts! An amazing property with outstanding Restaurants, thoughtful Experiences and World Class service and staff! We visited every restaurant and enjoyed amazing food, thoughtfully crafted drinks and attentive service at every one. We experienced the spa (Thanks Yareli) and I had an introspective mindful session with the Andaz resident Shaman Fernanda--highly recommended! We even had a chocolate and Mezcal tasting and an electric boat ride to tour the extensive property. We stayed in a beachfront room and watched the sun rise from our balcony every day. While we used the resort bicycles to go to the pool and experiences, there was always a golf cart to take us to dinner when we didn't want to ride in the dark. I cannot recommend the Andaz enough--we can't wait to return!
