We traveled to Mexico to learn about the culture. We didn’t want to eat at a touristy place, but also didn’t feel comfortable going far off the beaten path on our own. Las Hijas de la Tostada provided a delicious and different menu from American Mexican restaurants in a setting that seemed authentically Mexican. We all ordered octopus and loved it.
The food is amazing!!! You have to try it if you are in Playa del Carmen!!!! All I can say is that my teens (17, 20) said it was the best food they had had on the trip and that they wouldn’t mind eating there every day ??
Ordered the shrimp tostada and ordered the octopus taco which was a special. Before my dishes arrived they dropped off complimentary chips with the mojito I ordered. Staff was friendly and they checked in to see if everything was okay. Service and food were spot on.
Had a reservation at a more upmarket restaurant nearby but wanted to a grab a drink before. Saw the food on other peoples tables and tried the grilled octopus which was by far the best we had in Mexico and maybe in my top 3 worldwide. We canceled our reservation and also ordered a rice w seafood which was also excellent Open restaurant does not look much from the street but has lots of locals. Away from the buzz of the main drag but still on the main 5th Ave. we had a great waiter from Guadalajara who was knowledgeable, friendly and always there when you needed him Bill came to a little over $30 with four Bohemia beers. Amazing value. Highly recommend
This place became a favorite stop for us. The tostada's were absolutely delicious. We tried several in a few different visits. Nice place to stop for a snack and a cold beer.
What a great little find. Have wanted to come here for years and won’t miss it ever again. Service was exceptional and medium quantity high quality food options.
las hijas de la tostada its my favorite spot in playa del carmen, I have tried several things, the people are super friendly, it would be nicer if they had AC but if you want be outside is perfect too,
Had dinner with two friends, food is good, service was OK although way too slow but then the waiter was so rude and aggressive that ruined our experience. After waiting at least 15 minutes to get the bill and another 5-10 to be charged (we were paying by credit card), the waiter asked me if I wanted to add tip. I said “Yes add 10%” as I have always done in Mexico since 2020. The waiter said that the minimum was 15% - justifying his request on the basis of a small piece of paper attached somewhere saying “Suggested tip 15%”. When I told him I was free to tip 10% and even less, he got furious and aggressive and I literally had to argue with him. He was literally screaming - and no manager or anyone else told him anything at all. He also said something about “loosing money out of his pocket” and something unclear about “7% not going to him”. Neither me nor my friends understood what he wanted to say. Probably there is something strange going on in the way their tips are managed by the restaurant owners. Honestly the worst dining experience in Playa in 3 years. They simply show no interest in their customers. There are so many other great fish places in Playa, I recommend everyone to check them out.
AMAZING tostadas here at a very reasonable price. The seared tuna tostada is the best I have ever had. Would 100% recommend!
Great place to have some snacks and maragaritas. It's located right on 5th Ave, outdoors, clean, great service. We loved the shrimp tostada the best, although they were all amazing. Definitely recommend stopping here for a quick snack and cocktail. Also, super inexpensive.

This is my favorite restaurant in Playa Del Carmen the food is amazing it’s a great value and the people working there really make it above the rest
Great friendly service and reasonable prices. Really enjoyed the trio of mini burgers (beef, shrimp and tuna). Chips and guacamole were fresh and tasty.
Food is really good, the chef special’s are just amazing. Try the Camaron Caramelo, Tostada Brocheta, and the Lemon Pie as dessert.
Ordered the New York steak - never seen such skinny little strips of meat, half of which was gristle and inedible. Left feeling hungry, this was a starter at best, and I'm a small eater. The Waiter asked if everything was ok, told him portions were small and grossly overpriced, showed him the grissle, and he really was not bothered at all, no apology nothing, actually saw him go over to woman behind the bar and have a laugh together about it. AVOID, this place it's a complete rip off !!
Really good restaurant ! Very tasty and so nice ! I recommand it ! Good food and good drink ! The fish is fresh and local! Go go go
