The ambiance is just excellent and unique! The entire restaurant is located inside a very large cave. The wait staff attention is superb. The food was not excellent, but very good. Unusual local Mayan and Mexican dishes.
Had a fabulous night. Great food and great service. Luis was amazing and very attentive. Amazing atmosphere. A truly unique dining experience
Great place to grab a drink but I would not recommend the food. For what you get its overpriced!!! Its a very unique place so totally worth a visit but the food was a huge let down. Drinks were fantastic however.
We had an absolutely spectacular meal in "the cave restaurant" from start to finish. The layout of the restaurant is exceptional and unique....just the walk through the various caves to see all of the private dining areas (and seeing the occasional bat) made our visit worthwhile. The restaurant certainly bills itself as a luxury dining experience, and we were not disappointed. Cocktails were "King Street in Toronto" quality (including the smoke infusions that everyone loves to watch); the DJs (more than one!) played very enjoyable lounge-y house music; and the food was truly superb. Admittedly, we ordered the 24k tomahawk steak (special New Years Day treat for my son and I). Hard not to be impressed when a giant slab of meat thoroughly wrapped in gold leaf gets brought out to the table complete with its own mini-hibachi for finish-searing. But what stood out even more than the great food and great atmosphere was the great service. All of the wait staff we spoke with were so polite and friendly, and happy to grant any requests we had. The pinnacle (which earned them the largest tip I've ever given in my life) was when we discovered our tomahawk was more "blue rare" than "medium rare". I was quite concerned what would happen when I brought it to their attention - they apologized profusely (but not awkwardly), and then brought out another hibachi, sliced up the steak, and seared each piece for us. I thought that was pretty classy. If you're looking for a truly unique dining experience, this one is worth it.
This place is truly amazing. Everything was 5 star from the service to the food and the atmosphere. I love the fact you get to walk around the cave between courses. So many beautiful photo opportunities and even see a bat. The food was outstanding and good sized portions. The cocktails were great and reasonable priced. And the staff are so lovely and tentative, nothing was to much trouble.and the flame at the table puddings were outstanding
Such a disappointment. This is a beautiful venue but that is about it. We were seated at time of reservation but no one took a drink order for at least20 minutes. Another 15 minutes and we are told the champagne we ordered is not available. Drinks came after 45 minutes and dinner came out cold. So we were there from r 2-3 hours with quite the bill and cold food. Just all and all a horrible experience! Of course if you eat pork belly that has been sitting for a while you get sick. So just do not expect good service or good food. They tout this as a “one of a lifetime experience “. Indeed. We will be sure of that!
I could not have chosen a better location to propose. We visited last week, and it was amazing. We walked downstairs to the hostess, I showed her a message on my phone telling her my intent to propose to my significant other, and discreetly the hostess arranged to let us pick a VIP vault (a smaller space inside the cave with a table for two). We chose the Deseo vault and they prepared it with rose petals for us. We had an amazing surf-and-turf dinner, and a couple of great smoked cocktails, and a great bottle of Mexican wine. After dinner, Caleb (our waiter) proceeded to guide us on a tour around the restaurant, took pictures of us on my phone, and dropped a hint to me that he was taking us to a perfect location for us. We then entered a nice large cave vault where they turned off the lights, allowing me to get on one knee to propose, they turned the lights back on and the rest is history. Caleb and his team took pictures for us, and the entire team was incredibly attentive. Sincerely, I could not have asked for a better team to make this occasion as special to us as it was.
Dinner inside a Cenote? The food was amazing. Service was amazing, and the atmosphere was to the moon. Must see when in Playa.
Please note.. if you run hot and want to dine in comfort DO NOT go here! NO A/C.. just large fans.. The service was fabulous, the food however is Average at best. The Mixology drinks were pretty good. Don’t think you’re having wine unless you’re prepared to drop a minimum of $115 bucks on the cheapest bottle of Red.. The food is OUTRAGEOUSLY priced.. You DEFINITELY are paying for the experience of eating in a cave. $750 bucks for 3 people. I’m glad I went for the experience but I would never go back! Honestly I’d just as soon hit a good taco stand, if that tells you about the food! Especially for the price!
This place is magical, underground dining experience in a cave with excellent food. Amazing! Make sure you eat the banana foster, quite the experience! Adrian was the mist excellent waiter

Amazing experience, fantastic service and staff. Attention and great care. Made the dinner experience memorable. It was my sister’s milestone birthday and the staff made it special. Dinner quality and quantity exceeded expectations. Cave experience is mystical.
Atmosphere is great, very unique venue. Lobster was delicious but the so called rib eye was sub par. Service was so so. I would invite the chefs to my grill to see how it should be done.
What a MARVELOUS, once in a lifetime experience!!! My boyfriend took me here for a surprise birthday dinner while we were on vacation in Playa del Carmen and what a surprise it was!! The cave is gorgeous and magical and other worldly - it’s hard to imagine and describe and the pictures don’t even do a great job of capturing the environment. It’s a MUST SEE! He reserved a VIP table, so we had a portion of the cave all to ourselves which was a whole other level. The food was also spectacular as was the staff! Hector and Aaron and the team were incredible - they were attentive and knowledgeable and so pleasant! Hector and Aaron get 5 stars for their attention and service! Really it was an incredible evening - we just got back and I’m on cloud 9. I’ll remember this for a long time to come. If you’re celebrating something special, you must go! :)
Definitely a unique experience. Hector and Alejandro were fantastic service. Food was excellent and presentation to notch. Very cool to eat inside the cenote.
Food was great. Raiders was an excellent server. The atmosphere was as described. Beautiful, dark, romantic, but enjoyable. Salmon tartar, steak filet, and lobster risotto were all phenomenal. Not a fan of the oysters. Sauce is too strong IMO.
