The hotel is incredible but the service in this area is the worst of the worst, to give you a table with the place alone took 15 minutes and the waiters were rude.

Food was good nothing above and beyond but solid, also try the pizza spot in same sitting area. Al pastor pizza was good. Carlos Dorantes was very helpful quick about the drink refill. I’ll be in next time I’m in Occidental.

Mexican compadreDon't come, the ones on your corner are a thousand times better and they take much less time.Only two types of “normal” tacos; shepherd and roastTwo tacos for the early morning slump: carnitas and barbacoa (super rare)That day there was a variety of tacos at the buffet, which was a thousand times better.
Recommended dishes: Tacos de Asada
The best place in the hotel to eat tasty tacos and hang out with friends! Greetings to my partner Rigoberto Pérez Ramírez, the most attentive and light-hearted waiter on the site. I recommend La gringa de al pastor, it's the best there is!

On our first night at the Occidental at xcaret destination we dined at Paco's tacos Mexican taqueria and we had the pleasure of being served by rigoberto, Perez Ramirez an outstanding waiter. He made sure our food came in less than 4 minutes with the drinks as well. He made great recommendations on the menus and drink mixes. Overall had most of the menu. They are traditional tacos and the sauces and add ones are fresh and quickly refilled if needed. Would highly recommend you to try them. Ask for Rigoberto Perez Ramirez.

Disappointing people's attention
Tacos for snacks at Hotel Occidental by destination Xcaret. The first day some decent taquitos and quotes although the sauces were not worth it... bland or extremely spicy (pure habanero liquefied). The next time we went at 7 pm (it opens at 4 pm and closes at 2 pm), THEY DID NOT HAVE GRINGO FLUTAS OR GOLDEN GOLDEN ON A LIMITED MENU! IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN IN A SUPPOSED 5-STAR HOTEL?Everything was cold and the folder was 7th stone. What happened? I suggested to the waiter that he never tell a customer that, they may have run out at the moment but if they are going to prepare more, he should say so and give the option of waiting or not. That's just one of the many unpleasant incidents in this Barcelo that I don't recommend to anyone. If you are interested read my review of the hotel. If something exceptional that Mexico has is ITS PEOPLE AND ITS GASTRONOMY. LOS Barcelo demerit it with the misery they offer and also make Grupo Xcaret look bad. The people of the northern countries seem to be happy with what they are offered. I adore Mexico and it saddens me that these people sell what is not authentic.

Normal studs, the wiring stands out a little more. The service of the food court lacking training, where it fills up, they drown in a little while.
For one who comes from CDMX, the truth is that it lacks a lot to be a good taco, apart from the service is slow since since it is not an à la carte restaurant they take time to serve
Delicious tacos and pizzas, a visit not to be missed
Our first dining experience at the Occidental was at Pacos Tacos and La Piazza. New to the resort, our waiter was fantastic! He brought us some samples of the different tacos to try at our table, and provided some pizza suggestions. The food was good but about what you would expect from this type of restaurant. Later in our stay we were actually provided a menu for both places and could change up our orders. Some of the wait staff were excellent, while others not so much. But the food would hit the spot when coming back to the resort after an excursion!
I personally did not like the tacos. They did not represent Mexican tacos what so ever. The meat was a bit charred and dry. Not much flavors like it should have had. I went out of the resort to get real tacos because I was disappointed, but again this is my opinion as Mexican who knows how to make tacos.
