This restaurant is excellent value. It is on a quiet street parallel to 5th Avenue but close to the water. It is a very pleasant setting. The service was very good, attentive and polite. The food was the standout. We had a pea soup that tasted of very fresh peas. Lobster wonton with a sauce offered a very fresh lobster flavour. For main courses, we had nut encrusted salmon that was perfectly cooked with miniature vegetables to accompany it. And a green Thai curry which had an excellent balance of flavour and heat. We finished off with a panna cotta. We enjoyed a bottle of Casa Madero rosado, one of our go to wines when we go out. It was a very pleasant experience and we thoroughly recommended it. Mains were about MX$250, very good value. We plan to return within two weeks.
Dining at Imprevist was great in every way...... food was delicious and beautifully presented. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was perfect. Can't wait to go back!
Service was excellent. The duck croquette appetizer was scrumptious. Lettuce wraps needed more sauce and spice and were much tastier the last time we had a reservation in January. The main corses were delicious.
We go to Imprevist every time we come to PDC. As always, it was outstanding. My friend said her duck was the best she's ever had. Service was outstanding. They will be moving. We will miss the quaintness of the current location.
We had my birthday dinner at Imprevist. Inside seating was intimate and lovely. The service and food was perfect, great drinks and really well presented tasty food. A band played with a great saxaphone player that we had heard practicing at the the soccer stadium earlier in the day. The night was made magical by all these elements! Thanks to all for a wonderful PDC birthday?
We had friends visiting and decided to take them to Imprevist. I was initially disappointed that the menu had changed and many of my old favourites had been replaced! However the new items we tried were excellent, especially the oyster ceviche and braised pork so I shouldn't have worried. As ever the service from Miguel was excellent and the wines first rate and not too expensive (for Playa).
Food flavor was absolutely amazing. We ordered the miso salmon and the beef filet. Filet was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The salmon was recommended to be cooked at medium, but came out significantly under done. Flavor was still amazing for the pieces we could eat. Service was fantastic the entire night and dessert was the cherry on top. The cheesecake was absolutely delicious!!
Such good service and atmosphere away from the bustle of 5th. We ordered all the appetizers on their menu as they sounded too good to order just one. The special shrimp bao of the day was not great and they changed it to the chicken vindaloo, 10x better and we were not charged for the shrimp. Excellent service that stands behind their quality of food. Would love to go back any time.
Food and creative mixed drinks were wonderful as was the service. Location is off the beaten path and that is what we loved about it! The ambiance was great, too. Just what you need to escape the busy and loud scene of 5th ave!
The food was superb. The waitstaff extremely attentive and knowledgeable. The wine list was wonderful. The ambience was just what we needed for a group of 8 loud and friendly Gays™.

I've been to this restaurant a few times over the years, and was slightly disappointed this time. It used to be intimate and the menu had more options, with excellent service. Today the food was incredibly slow, there are not as many options, and although there wasn't anything particularly wrong with the service and the waiter was friendly, the overall feeling that I got was that the place has been a bit abandoned. Would be willing to try again, but it's not what it used to be.
Imprevist was a great surprise. It's located on a quiet street off of 5th Ave. Preferable seating is outside. The food and service were very good. I definitely want to go back!
Not up to previous visits. Had the duck, not well seared. Fat was not rendered resulting in fatty chew. Partners rib eye was quite fatty and served blue when ordered medium rare. Kobe carpaccio with ponzu was on point though. Kitchen seems to have slipped from our last visit a year ago. 2800p dinner for 3, those are prices we are used too at home. This night did not live up to what I would expect from a place we have enjoyed many times. Not bad but not good or great as in past visits.
Great food, very well presented. Creative menu which we apteciated very much. All the staff were very kind and professional. They welcame us in the best way possible. A great choice that I recommend to everyone who is staying in Playa del Carmen.
