The meal was very good but I didn't enjoy it because when paying there was already a propina included on the bill and I saw it after paying and added 10%. Finally the waitress told me it was the tax on the food and I checked on the menu, it wasn't. So I asked them to reimburse me and they stopped their circus and returned my money. So it's organized theft

Avoid this restaurant. The food is good, but they rip you off when it comes to paying the bill.

[Jul/2024] We went to dinner at Pez Vela. The food was delicious and the service was excellent too. However, when paying, I noticed that the amount was excessive and the waiter was hiding the total. I took the bill and saw that they were charging the tip twice.

When I asked about it, I was told that it was the rule in Mexico: one tip is for the cooks and the people who prepare the cocktails, and the second is for the waiters. I argued that I had never seen that anywhere else, even in Mexico, but the waiter insisted that was how it was there. I paid to avoid problems and left.

At the hotel I confirmed that this practice does not exist and they asked me for the name of the place to make sure to alert other guests. This experience left me very disappointed and I hope others can avoid it. Photos attached.

A very nice place with very good service, the flavor of the dishes is very rich, and the staff is also very friendly. As for the cost, it is affordable and the number of portions is also very good. So it is a recommended place

Come down here with a group every year and 'The Swing Bar' is our go to. Great service, cold beers and best spot to people watch.

Very attentive. Good portion and good food. Bill total was higher than menu prices, should update menu, suggest to have your server confirm price of what you order so you'll know what your total will be.

Delicious food at this restaurant, the beef nugget was incredible.
To highlight the attention of our waiter Jordan, who spent the entire meal providing us with exceptional service, a great professional.
We will repeat for sure!

Kid-friendliness: Good place to eat with children, there are many good options for them. I recommend the quesabirria, the beef nugget and the hamburgers for the little ones.

First time being here.. and vacationing…. I will say the atmosphere is the greatest.. very conservative and the food is very good… most places you go the mixed drinks are watered down.. ( Cancun ) but here.. the drinks are of natural mixture.. I will say that they deserve the best awards so far.. will be checking out others but they are the first place winner’s in my book !!! Great job.. restaurant and Bar staff…!!!!!

Unfortunately after visiting the Pez Vela for over 20 years this will sadly be our last we have taken friends and family over the years for great meals drinks and memories, but after the last visit for our friends birthday which we had booked 4 days earlier with George the owners son we were let down badly we were told that the tables would be ready and also decorated at the expense of the bar only to find that the staff hadn’t been informed no tables ready no decorations ( they had to rush out and buy them) only to receive a bill at the end for the decorations, the staff were brilliant but unfortunately there hands are tied by an owner who seems to be out of touch with loyal customers and appears to place profits before loyalty. There was 10 in our group.

Ok. This is about the third time this has happened in various establishments on 5th Avenue. The food was ok but expensive. 17 dollars for a beer and some tacos? I’ll give them that because it’s the tourists area I suppose. But what gets me is where did I give permission for them to set their own tip? Scribbled on the invoice and not even asked. Not only that, they never bought the change… and forgot my beer in the first instance…. fuming I couldn’t be bothered to ask for it. Oh and injury to insult they bought the bill 15 mins before advertised closing effectively evicting me. On that note, I won’t be back. Maybe I’m the mug for paying it but it’s too hot to argue. This tip culture needs to stop. I have no problem tipping for good service but the assumption and leg lifting tourists needs to stop…
