The food was good to very good. Good sized portions, But I asked for no guacamole on my nachos due to an avocado allergy, the nachos came with guac on top. When I reminded the server I asked for no guac, he took the plate away and quickly returned with the nachos without guac. I don't understand those reviews at all - this was absolutely one of the best food I had in Mexico. Amazing tacos and mind-melting alambre plus incredible sauces. Prices are low, and staff is nice. The only disadvantage I can point out is music - it is way too loud.
We spent a lot of time looking for good street tacos while in Playa Del Carmen and then just decided on El Tacoyote since we walked past it daily. The tacos were good and not too expensive, the Pastor was our favorite. I wouldn't say the tacos are very good, but they are certainly above average. The beer selection kind of sucks since they don't carry most of the typical Mexican beers everyone else on 5th carries. One thing to note, the menu isn't very specific but...
