Zapote Bar

Second time here during our stay but this time we actually had dinner outside. Had a couple of apps and the lamb chops. Although the portions are small (and quite expensive), the flavor and spice the chef prepared the dish with was amazing. The vibe in the bar tonight was great and one of the best experiences we have had since we got here. Highly recommend booking a table here.

Food and service are superb. Arrival greeting was a bit disorganized and ambience could be improved but was still very pleasant.

Excellent drinks (Wana nana was favorite). Great appetizers, shrimp quesadillas and local fish tacos served on a rootbeer leaf. A little pricey but very good! Service was excellent.

Too hot. Like the idea of open air, but needs more air circulation/fans. I don't want to be dripping with sweat when I drink and dine.

This is an amazing bar It has very well balanced unusual drinks. Service and atmosphere were fantastic. Will definitely be back.

Incredible dinner, we truly enjoyed the whole experience but the beef carpaccio was the star of the show for us. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back to try even more from the menu!

*Disappointing Experience at Rosewood's Bar* As foodies seeking exceptional culinary experiences, we were underwhelmed by the 11th-ranked bar out of 50. Our server struggled to describe cocktail flavor profiles and couldn't identify their most popular drink. *Issues:* 1. Lack of knowledge: Server couldn't answer questions about the Lost Explorer special. 2. Poor drink quality: Cocktails were less than mediocre. 3. Inconsistent service: Waiter change mid-visit didn't improve experience. *Details:* - Visited Rosewood's bar, expecting excellence. - Server couldn't describe Lost Explorer's flavor profile or identify popular cocktails. - Drinks lacked smokiness and were overly small (less than 1 oz). - Second round of drinks and dessert (rice pudding) were unimpressive. - Peanut butter clashed with the dish. *Resolution:* Contacted F&B Director; the team at Rosewood took my matter seriously and I am pleased with the results. *Expectations:* Improved staff training and accurate billing. Did not receive 100 points for visit with open table.

The experience visiting Zapote Bar was amazing. The bar is located inside Rosewood Mayakoba, but finding the entrance was a bit tricky with Google Maps. However, the hotel staff were incredibly helpful and kind, guiding me to the correct entrance (it's better to search directly for the hotel). A heads-up: the directions provided by OpenTable are incorrect, leading you to Tulum instead of Playa del Carmen, where the bar actually is. Upon arriving, the first pleasant surprise was the stunning interior decor. It feels like stepping into a Yucatecan hacienda, with the space thoughtfully divided into three sections: a family area, the main salon, and an open kitchen. From the moment you enter, you feel at home. The service is outstanding—staff are attentive to every detail, making sure you have everything you need, and always offering friendly recommendations for both food and drinks. Being part of the 50 Best Bars in North America, I had high expectations, but Zapote Bar exceeded them. The cocktails were incredible, featuring unique combinations that were perfectly balanced, made with high-quality spirits, and beautifully presented. While the drinks are a bit more expensive than in other local spots, the quality and craftsmanship more than justify the price. The food was another highlight—far beyond what I anticipated. Every dish, from the appetizers to the main courses, was exceptional. The pastrami sandwich, in particular, was mind-blowing. Service was impeccable, with my water glass always full and the staff providing thoughtful recommendations. If you're anywhere near Playa del Carmen or Cancun, Zapote Bar is an absolute must-visit. It offers a delightful experience with top-tier food, drinks, and hospitality, making it well worth the trip.

Definitely a must stop if staying at Mayakoba. We had a late dinner reservation and then stayed awhile after and enjoyed the music and overall scene. Great food, even better drinks, music and vibe

Highly recommend! Cocktails, service and ambiance were all top notch. Angel and the rest of the bar staff provided next level hospitality during our amazing experience. Can't wait to visit again!
