We had dinner at Itzam on the second night of our visit to Kanai (we are staying at the St. Regis next door). It was very easy to get from the St. Regis to the Etereo Hotel where Itzam is located via a short golf cart ride. The staff at the restaurant were very welcoming upon our arrival and the restaurant had a great, warm and cozy ambiance, as well as the hotel overall. Beautiful restaurant, very friendly staff. Unfortunately my husband and I got extremely sick within 2 hours of eating at the restaurant. We can not figure out what made us so sick, since we had entirely different meals. We did have butter on our bread and the chocolate ice cream. An expensive dinner that ended horribly!
We stayed at the St Regis and came over to Itzam for diner and we are glad we did. The ambiance was quiet and romantic. It had a southwestern feel to it but also very classy. Our waiter George was great. We were not sure what to order but he made the perfect selections. My wife and I shared the shrimp as an appetizer and had the octopus and the fish of the day. It was the best meal we had during our whole trip. I highly recommend going there if you have the opportunity.
