I would like to start by saying that I am a very positive person, my husband always says I could have a good time on my own in an empty room, yet I find myself with many negative things to say about this hotel! So the positives are that the beach is simply divine. A lot of work goes into keeping it pristine and it's almost like being in heaven chilling in a cabana looking out at the sea. The grounds are beautiful and it's lovely walking around them and enjoying the wildlife at the resort. Our room was lovely and big and we were delighted with it on arrival. BUT... When we went to the concierge to make arrangements for our dinner reservations for the week, instead of doing so, they rang someone who came and took us away to a separate area. There, we were encouraged to do a tour of the resort in order to upgrade to become an exotic member. I had already read some reviews about people being pressured to upgrade, so I nipped the conversation in the bud as much as I was politely able to do. It was at this point (day one) where I realised this resort is geared towards members, and the rest of the guests are plebs. The room as I said was delightful on arrival, but things soon deteriorated. The well stocked mini bar stopped being restocked, the beds were made and new towels left but the room was not cleaned. We used the hotel App to request room cleaning and to restock the mini bar, sometimes this was executed some times it was not. The restaurants were fewer than advertised. I personally didn't have a problem with this as the restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch became a proxy evening restaurant for the ones that are now closed. What I do have a problem with is calling the restaurants 'Gourmet'. Don't get me wrong, the food is very nice, plenty of choice, and the waiters are lovely, but it is not gourmet. Want Palafito's restaurant, well that's an extra charge. Want Lobster? extra. Want Tomohawk steak? extra. Want a Starbucks? extra. The resort was at 40% capacity. Great for us plebs, because we were allowed to use the cabanas that are usually reserved for members, and it was just so quiet on the beach which we really loved. The evening entertainment was abysmal. Usually about an hour long and over by 10pm. Singers who can barely hold a tune. Sometimes my husband and I were the only ones watching. People seemed to have their evening meal and go to their room. Rick's bar was there for the very few people who wanted something to drink later, it looked like a conference room. We went along for the Magic Show one evening, the room was set up like a wedding reception I thought. When nothing happened, we enquired to find that the magician had been cancelled because the room was being used the next day for 'The Big Boss' who was coming to the resort! So no entertainment for anyone because the boss is coming... well isn't that lovely! It was my husbands birthday and our 20th wedding anniversary while we were there. We were asked more than once if we were there celebrating anything special, and we told them more than once that indeed we were. Nothing was done, not a swan shaped towel on the bed or a piece of fruit, nothing! so why ask? We've received cakes/wine/fruit baskets at 4* hotels for lesser celebrations, but apparently you only get something here if you are an exotic member, so once again the plebs miss out. We enjoyed the ATV's and the Jet-skiing at Maroma Adventures next door, and it can be booked at the hotel (just behind the lobby) The Jet-Skiing was amazing - like an extreme sport, not for you if you're Captain Slow. Didn't do the swimming with Dolphins as they are in a swimming pool that is far to small for such wonderful intelligent creatures. So while the enjoyment of this resort will of course be subjective, please bare in mind many of the ratings on here are from people with only one contribution. Many of the reviews are clearly from members as they are returning customers, and will be getting a different experience... I'm pretty

Arrived on an early evening flight to Cancun to a downpour but the rain soon cleared. Security checks at Cancun Airport were a complete joke, and it took up over an hour to be seen. Approximately 1 hour transfer to resort. Upon arrival at hotel you need to pay a security deposit of $500 per room, on a credit card. We were given a newly refurbished room near one of the swim up pool/bar. It was lovely and clean, and comes with all the essentials., e.g. bathrobe, slippers, hairdryer, mini bar, tea/coffee making facilities. The beds are very comfy, but very high. There is also free room service, if you didn’t want to venture out. We were told that all the evening restaurants had to be pre-booked, so we choose the Caribbean restaurant for our first evening. OMG the coconut shrimps, they are amazing. We soon realised that the hotel wasn’t very busy, perhaps 40/50% full, but the staff were always very polite, and couldn’t do enough for you. The beach was never busy or overcrowded, and you could still get a sun bed after lunch. The guys working the beach would setup some towels, umbrellas, etc wherever you wanted them. Our beach butler was Diego, we used to call him ‘Little D’. He always gave service with a smile, and had the Heineken in an ice bucket ready for us. We soon found out that all bartenders had their own ‘special’ cocktails, just needed to ask. Tequila shots are always available. The sea is quite calm and great for snorkelling. The paddle boards and single/double kayaks are available from the beach. The Entertainment team, led by Alex are fantastic. They don’t pester you, if you don’t want to join in the daily activities, which range from yoga, aqua aerobics, volleyball, painting pots or cooking demos. The team consist of Chris, Omar, Octavia and Hazeal. There was always one of them on duty day or evening, and they make a great team, even got ‘mum’ playing volleyball. They put on a champagne foam party in the main pool on the Saturday afternoon, which is great fun. Miss you guys already. Breakfast and lunch are very casual and you can go to either of the two main restaurants on site. One is smaller and quieter. As we were a group of 6, we pre-booked all the restaurants as early as possible, but the new week starts on a Sunday, so you can’t too far in advance. We used to visit Itzel in the reception, who was amazing and patient with our various requests. She books all the restaurants, candle light dinners, iron/ironing board, pillows, extra tea/coffee, and even organised a birthday cake. Family members realised that you can have a different room spray and pillow spray. There are also various pillow choices. All the waiters swap to different restaurants, and we had Alberto on several occasions, who was fantastic, and explained the contents of certain dishes, so that we knew what we were ordering. The food was amazing and all freshly prepared, and was in abundance. If you wanted extra onion rings, extra veg, extra rice. Noth8ng was a problem for them. The house wines were very palatable, including a choice of Merlot or Cabernet. Evening entertainment was sparse, but there was always Ricks Bar, open late. We did have rain, as expected but it soon clears up, and there was always guys racking up the seaweed. We did pay extra on our last night to visit Palafitos, which is the restaurant which over looks the sea. There is a private room you can book which has a glass floor, but there is an additional charge for this. We did tip on most occasions as the service was faultless.

Another great trip. Awesome food, great service, beach was beautiful as always - The list of people to thank gets bigger with each trip. Butlers - Israel went way above and beyond the call of duty all day every day. Enrique was great too. Beach butler Machaly (SP) was spectacular. The masseuse team was awesome - special shout out to Beatrice and Armando - Massages were amazing. Carlos on the snorkel cruise was the best. Sharem our exotic representative was there to help each and every day and personally made the trip so much better. And the savior was our lifeguard / medic - Fernando who was so attentive to my wife's medical issues. Last but not least want to extend a shout out to Miguel at the Palafitos. 11 years and counting. We will be back soon.

We really enjoyed our stay at this fantastic hotel. It has a more intimate feel than other el dorada hotels we have stayed at, only having 157 suites. The beach is wonderful with its soft white sand . We walked up and down many times, watching out for all the different fish swimming around. The food at the different restaurants was really good. Coconut shrimp and shrimp tacos being memorable highlights. So well prepared and presented. All the waiters and bar staff were so friendly and attentive. We especially liked Lima Limon for breakfast and lunch. Thanks particularly to Patricia and her staff there who were so welcoming. So relaxed and chilled , right on the beach. The entertainment team led by Alex with Chris, Omar, Octavio, Hazael and DJ Rene were excellent. We particularly liked pool aerobics and also playing pool!

El Dorado Maroma’s beach is breathtaking. They work tirelessly to keep the beach free of seaweed. This trip the water was crystal clear. The entire staff treats you as their family. You are their priority. The resort is small with the farthest rooms from the beach is just a 30 second walk. You can walk from one end to the other in 5 minutes. Beach beds and loungers were never an issue, beach butlers Manuel and Elier would prepare the beds and always making sure had everything you needed. Our room was spacious and spotless. Our butlers Julieta and Berni took great care of us, making we had everything we needed in our rooms and made all our dinner arrangements. They are down two restaurants as they are remodeling the building that was damaged from the last storm but there was not a shortage of restaurants at night to choose from. They have multiple theme nights in Papitos to add to your options. We are already looking forward to our return trip in November to be with our Maroma family.

Every year we can always count on El Dorado Maroma to be AWESOME! 16 visits since 2008, This place is truly our home away from home…and while I think it can’t get any better, each year it amazingly does…. Although they’ve expanded a bit, it’s still a boutique hotel with very personalized service…Don’t be surprised when the server remembers your favorite dish, or the bartender has your drink ready before you even order it… While El Dorado Royale and Seaside are exceptional also, you don’t get the personalized service like you do here at Maroma… The picture perfect Punta Maroma Beach looks the best I’ve ever seen in the 15 yrs we’ve been coming here…..No seaweed on the shore (like some people have complained about in the past), they got rid of the sandbag island out by the Palafitos, and no overflow noise from the Marina next door….The beach is simply spectacular! While every year, I think the food is even better than the last, it truly was even better this visit….a dinner at their Italian restaurant Mio, would cost an easy $300 at a similar restaurant in Los Angeles or Vegas…and here it’s all included in your price…(I believe I’ll have seconds please ;) The grounds and pools are always immaculately maintained, whether you’re lounging by one of the many pools, at one of the bars, or hanging out in a daybed on the ocean…you feel like you are truly in Paradise…. Will the variety of room classifications, there’s a perfect room for everyone… Lomas Travel (owned the Martinez’, the same Martinez’ that own the resort) offer 5-Star travel arrangements to/from Cancun Airport, as well as private excursions….You will feel pampered and 100% secure with Lomas Travel…Their brand new Lincoln Navigators are incredibly luxurious…. While I rate El Dorado Maroma as complete “Paradiso” it’s best for couples wanting peace and tranquillity. There are a few nighttime shows (usually over by 10pm) it’s a not a party place…If you want to party and whoop it up, try their sister resort, El Dorado Royale (about 20 minutes away) …. All the staff (literally ALL) are friendly, and more than accommodating…but there are some that I wish to mention with their 6-Star (out of 5 ;) this visit… Bernabe, Julieta & Victor (Butlers) made all restaurant, spa and special event reservations, made sure the refrigerator was stocked with my favorite beer (Coors Light ;) and our every need was addressed… Augustin (El Capitan at Papitos Restaurant) and Patricia (at Lima Limon) remembered our favorite tables at the restaurants, and made sure our every culinary dream was fulfilled…. Bartenders Rene (crowd favorite), Karen (awesome), Betsabe & Josue kept our drinks full, and never judged when I’d order a tequila shot at 9am (Hey, I’m holidays…ok..LOL) Servers Dennise (Numero Uno ;), Martiniano, Dory, Julian, Nahaim, Aaron, Marcos, Carlos + many more that I didn’t catch their name…made every meal special and personalized…having a bucket of chilled beers placed next to my table (because they remember me from years past) truly make one feel that much more special…(and who doesn’t wanna fell special right?? ;) Housekeeping’s Wilfredo, Antonio & Juanita (Nightly turn down service) kept our suite clean, sanitized and refreshed twice daily… And I can’t forget Gabo (Bellhop) who’s kids we’ve seen grow up….making sure our luggage was safe and delivered to the room upon arrival..and again departing… Don’t be afraid of Mexico, especially the Riviera Maya, it’s such a beautiful area…In all the years we’ve been coming here, we’ve never experienced a security issue or had any safety/theft issues…many times I’ve left a book or electronics on a beach bed only to find it the next day at the Hotel’s lost & found. All the rooms have a safe for your valuables, but once again, we’ve left IPads, phones or other things left on in the room with no problems…let me just say this, I’d be more afraid of a fellow guest lifting something from me, than thinking the staff would… From being met at Cancun Aeropuerto and whisked away by Lomas Travel, to the sad departure (No one ever wants to

The resort is undergoing a change in management but the great people who work there seemed to be taking the transition in stride. The beach is beautiful and only made better by our awesome friends who are beach butlers-Manuel, Eli and Carlos were fantastic and so kind. Two of our favorite beachwaiters were Diego and Karen who are both exceptional .Vladimir was one our favorite waiters-always smiling and so sweet. Felipe the bartender at Rick's bar is also a sweetheart! Our butlers, Victor and Marbelle, worked hard to make our stay more enjoyable. Rene the dj at Ricks bar was great and became a new friend this visit. The lovely people who work at El Dorado Maroma are one of the main reasons we keep going back each year.

I had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful people. The beach is beautiful, food and room is great.Thank you to Alex, Octavio, Omar, Chris, Hazael and Rene for keeping us entertained :) I also greatly appreciate Enrique and Israel for taking such good care of us, Shirem for getting all our excursions organized and every single other fantastic human we met on our journey this week. The cherry on top of an amazing trip is always the people you meet and this resort has some of the best people I’ve ever met

This is the first holiday I’ve taken the time to write a review, me and my partner recently got married here and I couldn’t be more amazed by the experience I’ve had at Maroma. The food has been fantastic and the staff have been incredible. I want to thank CHRIS, Octavio, Omar, Alex & Hazael for making my time at Mexico amazing, they have been incredibly friendly, helpful and so kind. They have consistently included me in all the sport activities and without them here my experience wouldn’t have been as fun as it has been. Cannot wait to come back every year for our anniversary.

Super rich, fresh seafood, very good flavor and very original preparations. The shrimp cauldron that they give at the entrance is very tasty, the octopus and shrimp tacos are delicious, the toast is also very good. Very kind attention. The only thing is that they take a while to bring the food.

This resort has a special place in my heart for a couple of reasons, my first anniversary was spent here and also my first review on Trip Advisor was on this resort 7 years ago. I decided to write it 7 years ago, because I ended up at Maroma by mistake on my 1st anniversary and I was angry, until they smacked me with over the top family hospitality and forced me to recognize how amazing Maroma was, so I had to give credit where credit is due. Big thanks to my wife for handling the nightly duties, while I get to reminisce about our fabulous vacation and write this review. Also, I follow a lot of the resort fan pages and went on this trip to see if I needed to spend any money to have a good time and prove that a resort can be all inclusive and still offer up sells and premium options. I did pay to go to Fuentes Culinary theatre at El Dorado Royale, as my friends had never been and I wanted them to enjoy that experience, for my birthday dinner. I would have been happy at any of the dinner concepts on Maroma though, very easily. I will break this down by sections as to allow readers to jump ahead to certain aspects that pertain to them and be able to gloss over those that do not, hopefully this will be interesting enough to captivate readers of this though. We left from SeaTac Airport on Monday the 18th of July and arrived in Cancun at Approx. 1630. We were in the front of the plane and made it through customs and security within 45 min. It was busier than I have seen over the past 2 years, signaling to me the pandemic travel restrictions were over. You still are required to wear a mask in the Cancun Airport though, which is fine with me, I'm going on vacation, do not try and get me sick with anything please. Pickup: Lomas Travel Rep Zauka was waiting outside the terminal and immediately found our name on the pick up list and we told him we arrived with another couple and wanted to share a ride to the resort. We could have just left in our own transport, but we waited another 30 minutes for our travel friends made it through customs and security. Enrique was our driver and stopped for a baño and beers on our way in and we were at the resort within 50 minutes. Check-in and Room: We arrived at the new Exotic lobby (We are Members of Karisma resorts), which wasn't they are on my last visit and Carlos was the welcoming smile that greeted us. Gabriel was on us and had bags under control within seconds and we were sipping sparkling wine as we got the check-in done. I was in a Sapphire (lowest level) member swim up room, I requested buildings 3 or 4, but they were full on my visit, we ended up in a building that wasn't there my first visit in 2014/15. It was on the backside of the member lobby in building 12. It was a huge suite with a nice sized pool on the backside. Room 1205 had an obstructed view to ocean, but we ended up loving it, because it was so quiet. Especially after long day on the beach and the main pool and also we had Carlos there as support instantly, he radioed whoever we needed support from, so I didn't have to worry about using the GA Maroma APP. On Carlos days off I utilized Roberto in the Exotic lobby, never got to tell Carlos goodbye, so I hope he reads this. We also had coffee service and pastries available in the lobby as well, just outside our door. Every Vacationer is different, this room was great for what I needed this trip, which was a nice quiet pool, big room to host wine before dinner and a quiet bed to recover from closing down Rick's Bar. I will address Rick's bar later. Room Service: We had a standing delivery of coffee service, fruit and pastries with a side of cottage cheese. I did utilize the App to cancel our morning order on a couple of occasions when we wanted to sleep in. We had an order of Eggs Benedict that really missed the mark, but over all they were on it. I'd like to give a shout out and thank you to Gerardo and Antonio who magically got me going in the morning or put me bed after Rick's closed. Thanks Bazael for the late night delivery of a St
