This place is overrated. The setting is absolutely lovely - open air, jungle vibe with cool design features - but the food and service are missing finesse. We went for dinner and ordered the recommended number of appetizers and entrees and everything came out in a big rush with no time to enjoy our first course. In fact the food came out so quickly that it seemed like it was 90% prepared in advance. On top of the rush - it just wasn't that good. The lamb was really tough, with barely one bite per lollipop; fish crudo a little crude and the pineapple dessert had zero panache. Service was extremely kind but not considerate of how to time out a meal.
I booked this place a few months ago for NYE dinner for a prepaid price of 195 USD/ per person. When I arrived at the place they told me there are no tables available at the moment (albeit I had a prepaid booking!) and I have to wait! For how long? The answer was “unknown” and that all tables are full. After over 30 minutes frustrated wait I was finally allowed to sit at their bar, which by the way was totally empty - and was offered a drink (which was a welcome drink part of my package, nothing complimentary or so). Still no sign of being seated at a table. After a whole hour of frustration and being treated like sh.t, I could finally have my prepaid table. But by that time my whole evening, my NYE was ruined by them. I wrote a few emails to those who made the reservation and took my payment but they didn’t even have the dignity to offer an apology. As for the food it was total crap; 1 of the 5 dishes was a plate of tomatoes (nothing else), and the only meat dish was full of fat. Avoid this place. Tulum has plenty of other options!
We have been 2 times. First time was perfect. Amazing prawns, perfect fish (sea bass) and very good Sauvignon Blanc. Great service. Second time, was OK too. Service not so caring but nice. Nearly gave it just 4 point - coz you can not see what you eat. It is by far to dark.
Nice setting, beautiful cocktails and great food! Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff! Great night out for foodies, couples or a group of friends.
Food was reasonable but service was poor. We were not able to pay by credit card and had to escorted to get cash out where we were then charged for the withdrawal and charged for conversion from £-$. We had heard great things about this restaurant but the overall experience was disappointing.
We had dinner here on recommendation of our hotel concierge - so glad we came. Our waiter Eduardo was fantastic - friendly, attentive and very knowledgable about the menu and helpful with recommendations. We started with some very interesting mezcal cocktails. They have a very interesting menu focused on local indigenous ingredients and a wood fired grill. We had small plates of sweet potato agrodolce and wood fired quail - both amazing. For entree we shared a sea bass that was just great. The whole meal was a wonderful mix of interesting flavors and textures. The open air space is comfortable and inviting and feel upscale. The staff were uniformly friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend.
This was my second visit dining at Nu as a solo traveller, the last time was in Nov 2021. The restaurant has had a refurb and it is amazing, I had such a fabulous evening. I asked to be seated at the Bar area, more social when travelling solo. ALL the staff, including the Bar tenders really looked after me. So kind, friendly and attentive and made me feel super comfortable and at home. The only reason why I had to call it a night was because I was exhausted. I cannot comment on their cocktails as I wasn’t drinking on this trip. However watching the barmen in action, they really do know what they are doing so I would recommend any/all their cocktails. But I did enjoy a dish from each course, the dessert was absolutely delicious, pineapple something ?. My starters were delicious as well, I think I had the ceviche. I love ceviche. Thank you to Leo, the other barman (I have forgotten your name), all the waiting staff, the chefs, the maitre de - for your kindness, hospitality and showing me a wonderful evening. I definitely recommend coming here for dinner and even a pre-dinner drink in their garden space. Great ambience and music throughout the evening. Beautiful setting throughout. Thank you so much, Kunali
Really tasty food. We had cocktails and Wine (just Ok) but the praws is Really a recommondation to try.
We hosted our son and daughter in laws rehearsal dinner at NÚ, Tulum. The rooftop terrace was stunning. Nathalie made planning this event long distance so very easy. Her communication was spot on with all my questions. We had a lovely fajita buffet with delicious appetizers! The signature cocktails were amazing as well. Everyone enjoyed the evening so much. The service was outstanding. We could not have picked a better place to host this special event!
Tucked away a bit deeper into Tulum is this gem of a restaurant. Every course was delicious, the flavors and quality of ingredients really stood out. Service was excellent and the restaurant itself is stunning.

We had our wedding at Nu Restaurant and it was so amazing! We found Nu by researching through social media once we knew we wanted to have our wedding in Tulum and fell in love with the space. It was perfect, we had the ceremony on the beautiful roof terrace and the reception dinner downstairs. Food was absolutely amazing - some of our guests said it was one of the best dinners they’ve ever had! Everyone was raving about it. Drinks were equally delicious and the service was amazing. All of the staff were so kind and on top of everything. Natalie their event manager helped us organize everything from emails back and forth for the past year to the day of the wedding. She made the day so easy for us and perfect! The management were so great making sure the night went smooth and treated us so well. Highly recommend for anyone hosting a special event! The restaurant is also amazing for dinner, the food and drinks are some of the best we’d had in Tulum and we’ve been to Tulum a few times so we’ve tried many of the restaurants. Thank you for making our special day so unbelievable, it was the best day ever thanks to your team!
We recently had our Rehearsal Dinner and wedding Welcome Drinks at NU and everything was SUPERB! Aurelie and Natalie were so helpful during the entire process, so communicative, we worked together to find the best set up for both events. The food is DELICIOUS (the Lemon grass chicken was something else. People are still talking about it a month after the event!), all the staff were so nice and attentive, and it was just so beautiful. Thank you so much Aurelie and Natalie for all your help...everything was truly so perfect. So many people came up to us pointing out how beautiful the venue was and the vibes were perfect! I wish we could do it all over again. We will definitely be back!
The service is top class and the food knowledge from the staff is brilliant. The food is 1st class nothing more nothing less very good at what they do here!
We had the best meal in tulum with jazz music and candles and jungle and beach vibes at the same time . Súper recomendado
This was the most incredible meal… not just in Tulum, but the best meal I’ve had in a long time! It’s almost incomprehensible how much flavor the chef was able to pack in every bite… from the delicate foam on top of the oyster mushrooms to the most complex mole negro we’ve ever had. my mouth is still watering remembering our meal here. We had the oyster mushrooms, fish crudo, quail with mole, prawns, stuffed peppers, and pumpkin cheesecake. This is a restaurant where the plates come full of food and leave the table with every drop licked off. You won’t leave disappointed!! The cocktails were excellent as well, not too sweet so that you can actually taste the featured alcohol, from the mezcal to the charanda. We will miss you, NÜ!!
