Omg the cod sandwich is so good I could have drank the homemade remoulade. You must save room for their carrot cake or take a slice home like I did! Highly recommend this cafe.

Such a gem. The food was tasty, the people were incredibly friendly, and eating right over the river made the whole experience unforgettable.

The food here is absolutely delicious. We have eaten here three different times now when camping at the Fundy National Park. The pasta dishes are all in house made pasta and amazing. The meat dishes too. This is not a pub style menu. It’s an impressive menu with the quality of food as good as the finest restaurants in any big city. We love this restaurant and will return every time we are in Alma.

We were recommended this restaurant by one of the locals. Homemade pasta, how could this go wrong? The server was lovely and our meals came quickly. After about 4 bites I stirred my pasta and under the top layer was a large, dead, black ant. We were able to get the server’s attention, and she took the meal into the kitchen. We were sitting on the patio and we could hear the kitchen staff when she brought it back. He was rude, and stated that “what did she except sitting outside, it didn’t come from here”. He then said, “ I guess I can make her another one if she wants.” You could tell that he thought offering another meal was not necessary. The server came back and we told her that there was no possible way this came from outside on the patio as the ant was buried deep inside the bottom of the bowl. We also let her know that we could hear everything that was being said, and we were shocked at the poor response and attitude of the staff.
Things like ants , hairs etc in food can happen, but how a restaurant handles these situations is a true reflection of the quality of the restaurant and the staff. The kitchen staff were unbelievably rude.
I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. I have never before been treated so badly.

Food was really good ! But service unfortuntely not so much. They were slammed, they told us the waiting time for the food was 1 hour, wich was ok for us. But no updates, no how are we doing, or any communication what so ever to keep us posted. Took 1h45 minutes to receive our food, and the restaurant was empty by the time we got it… The wait is ok, but you need to talk to your client and keep them posted… not just ignore them and hope the kitchen does the food quickly.

Great spot. We had reserved a table for a specific time, but upon arrival, there was no record of our reservation. The meal was superb. They always do an amazing job with their food. Service was slow. We were a long time receiving our food. I will definitely ear here again, but I may need to snack ahead! .

I will warn you about this place. Not sure how they ever got 4 stars. We came in around 3:30 pm on a Sunday which is not busy at all. There were two other tables of customers inside - who look kinda miserable which should have been my clue. Ordered a lobster sandwich and soup which came in an hour later and nobody came to explain anything. I had enough time to go out and buy 2 snacks and finished them before the meal come. And when it finally came this is what you got for 32$ sandwich. And they definitely forgot the soup. We had a roll in alma lobster shop last night, 25$ which had 2-3 times more lobster meat!!! Save yourself the headache and go anywhere else in Alma where you don’t have wait for an hour for a sad looking and tasting sandwich.

We had the Cast Iron Seared Cod and Chicken Parmesan and both were outstanding. The chicken was tender, moist, and perfectly prepared and served over fresh fettuccine noodles. Both were topped with a light marinara sauce. It was the best Chicken Parmesan I've ever had in a restaurant. My wife enjoyed the cod that was soft, light, and flaky. It was served with mashed potatoes, green beans, carrots, and broccoli. We were seated inside the restaurant were it was quiet and played some great 80s music (Not loud).

My boyfriend and I had such a great experience at Octopus Garden! We went on August 23, 2025, and I have to give a special shout-out to the two waitresses who were absolutely wonderful, even though the place was super busy and short-staffed. We started with the oysters and the cheese platter. The cheese platter was a bit simple, but still good value for the price. We also asked for a wine recommendation and loved the bottle they suggested (note that the wine is really affordable). The Amatriciana pasta was outstanding, and the duck confit was also really good considering the price. Honestly, the service was some of the best I’ve ever had!

We were only in Alma for 2 nights and went to the Octopus's Garden for dinner twice. Both meals were great. Pasta available as gluten free also and loads of other gf options. My code meal was absolutely superb. Cooked perfectly and the vegetables were fresh and expertly prepared. My husband loved his pasta, one night sausauge, the other night diavola. Oysters were divine and that says a lot from me, I live on the NSW Central Coast in Australia, with access to some of the world's best seafood. Good beer selection and my Chardonnay was a very pleasant surprise, reasonably priced too.
Outside seating by the bubbling stream was very pleasant and our servers were friendly and went the extra mile.
Most definitely recommended. Well done team.
