My lunch was pre- ordered and was brought to the table shortly after I arrived. The food is pretty good.. it was fresh. It was a little pricy simply because I added fries to a meal that didn't come with a side. The restaurant has an older generation vibe

My husband and I ate at the Portage Restaurant yesterday. It was not busy really but it took over 20 minutes to get waited on. I ordered the soup of the day to start. Hubby ordered hot turkey sandwich. My soup came, it was delicious. I put the crackers in it that came with it, and the crackers turned into a gooey mess and ruined the soup. The crackers were Kelloggs Festa Saltines. Then, I ordered potato salad as my other part of my meal and it was flavorless. I did not eat it either. My husband's hot turkey was cold, the gravy was all flour and the potatoes were lumpy. We usually love the Portage but yesterday at supper time it was terrible.

Kind staff but a long wait for food due to the conference room being booked. The food was ok, but on the bland side. The restaurant was clean and has a large parking lot.
The atmosphere - it was pretty there was nice lighting
The food - it's a big portion so that's good but that's it! We got a seafood platter and a seafood and chicken platter.
I can confidently say everything we got came from a frozen bag at the grocery store.
No seasoning to be found they couldn't even salt the McCain fries.
The service - pushy to have us order quick then our waitress didn't even look our way until we were done eating and had to flag her down to get our bill.
I'll microwave my meal myself at home next time thanks.

First time visiting and was really disappointed. Customer service was subpar. When being greeted at the entrance we were asked “for a table of two?”We responded “yes”. The staff told us with a direction point of her finger “ She has open tables in there”, then walked away. We walked into the left side of the restaurant and sat down in a booth. One staff came and took our drink order, then another staff took our food order. We decided on the lumberjack and Miramichi breakfast plates. What a disappointment. Scrambled eggs were flat and almost burnt from the flat top, big slice of ham that was dried out, and the (canned) baked beans that had been microwaved burnt my mouth. The toast had one swipe of butter in the center. My husband’s breakfast wasn’t much better. The sausages were burnt completely on one side and the over medium eggs were hard to eat from the crust of the flat top. The meal took about 40 mins from placing the order to receiving our food, almost like they just threw our breakfast on the flat top then went for a break. I put my full plate of food at the end of the table because I was not going to eat it. The staff walked by about 5-6 times and just left it sitting there. Maybe ask if something is wrong but she didn’t even ask how everything was in the first place. We saw a couple come in during our breakfast, sit down, place the order, and receive their food within 15-20 minutes. When cashing out the staff didn’t ask how our meal was or if everything was good. I had high hopes for this place because I am looking to find a regular food spot that could be my go to, but failed.
