We went to China cost for the first time 3-4 weeks ago we have been back 3 times now the food is amazing we have been looking for a good Chinese place since moving back to NB. The first time we had the buffet and other 2 times we ordered plates, hands down best lemon chicken and chicken balls ever. Juicy and tender. Great portions. Emily the lady who owns it is so friendly and kind we will not go anywhere else now that we have found china cost
The food was fantastic and very book friendly
Just ordered from this place tonight based on positive reviews. Now I'm convinced these positive reviews are just lying. One lady said portion size was great. Um no. It might have filled me up but not myself and my family. Tiny containers. Secondly they got our entire order wrong. Like no lemon sauce on the 2 orders of lemon chicken. So it was just sad wilted greasy limpless chicken pieces. It tasted awful, like bland cardboard and looked awful. And we order chicken lo mein. We got bean sprouts instead. Our first time there and it took us an extra hour, gas money, our time and unhappy hungry kids to rectify the situation and the food was not worth over hundred dollar price tag we paid and my kids barely got anything. We ate unlimited salad and garlic bread and main meals at East side Mario's for the same price and left with very full tummys for our family. It's my own fault really. I trusted these online reviews and was craving Chinese food. I guess there's no decent Chinese places left in this city anymore.
I loved the food it tasted really good but the real star is the service, I feel welcomed and they were really warm, the restaurant is clean and organized. Super recommended!

Ordered chicken egg drop soup and combo#8- had fried noodles, lemon chicken, beef. Had good quantity of food for the price but the quality was compromised. Fried rice vermicelli noodles tasted burned, not sure if that was because of the brand they were using or if the pan was burned. Some of the chicken in the soup were also burned but wasn't a big deal. But we had to return the noodle. This was the first time we had to return food in our life, couldn't finish at all. Had fried noodles several times but couldn't enjoy this one. May be that was their style which didn't match our taste as the manager told us when we gave our feedback.

We have always loved China Coast but something has changed.
Went to the Friday night buffet it is usually packed on a Friday but was not tonight. No one greeted us so we found our seat and had to get our own place Mats and silverware from another table.
The food was terrible it was more salt than anything else, on everyting from the rice, vegetables and noodles.
It was just unappitizing, vegetables were not crisp Very little flavor and all for over 60$ for 2 people.
One other point I want to make is the staff had there children there running about while we were having our meal.
We will not be going back.
*Sad once best chineese to worst.

New to the city and province. Was embraced and feed well. If you want to feel at home, yet faraway from home and looking to eat really good food. Take the time to stop. I did and love it. Will go back ?

I do believe I enjoy Chinese Canadian take-out a little to much. So I am sad to say that China Coast on the west side of Saint John is abysmal. It once was one of the best in the city, one of the few that has an actual buffet. The food has significantly changed in the past 2 months. I assume it's under new ownership and/or perhaps new cooks. The peppered pork has some how become soggy slop of unidentifiable ingredients and it's flavor has become bland to the taste buds of my mouth. The once crisp onions are limp yet some how have a burnt flavor to them. Thankfully the other meat products, like the beef are not over cooked. Plus you can identify them in their respective dishes. Yet if your looking to taste szechuan or other spices, you will be disappointed. The noodles have changed as well. By texture and taste. Either the brand or preparation. They taste oily and bland. I had hoped that this was an unexpected temporary issue. My weekly visits have turned into once a month. This was my third try since the change. I do not plan to go back at this point. I haven't even finished what I brought now from the take out. it's just that bad. There are plenty of other Chinese Canadian restaurant in the area. The result of their poor performance over the past 3 months, has resulted in me discovering them. Where before their was no question on where to go. I shutter to even consider them.
