Super cute place for dinner and cocktails based on time of year. Their menu rotates seasonally so sometimes there’s not many options if you have any dietary restrictions/preferences. Their cocktails are super cute and delicious and their charcuterie board is good, but comes with a very small amount of bread. The manager was l micro-managing the staff behind the bar and hovering behind the staff as they worked which made the atmosphere sitting at the bar a bit off, but other than that the bartenders were very prompt and friendly.

A bunch of us met up here for two rounds of drinks. We were seated for just under ten minutes before our orders were taken. We ordered six waters to go with our first round and three appetizers. (The duck fries were the best of the starters.)
It seemed to us like a large part of their menu was redacted - just unavailable when we asked. It was weird. When our second round arrived we still hadn't received the waters we had asked for (twice).
It wasn't a bad experience, but it wasn't a good one either. Maybe they were short-staffed and doing the best they could /shrug

Hopscotch Whisky Bar has really leveled up! The renovations are very noticeable: more seating, an expanded bar, & a beautiful outdoor patio that’s now one of my favourite spots in Saint John. What stood out the most was the outdoor furnace on the patio. It keeps the area incredibly warm, even on a cooler night. Honestly, if management adds a tarp or canopy for the winter, this patio could easily stay open year-round. The furnace does a fantastic job.
We ordered the smoked duck wings & duck fat fries: both were excellent. For drinks, we had the virgin Caribbean Punch & the French 75. The French 75 came out a bit too sour, but our server Jason was super attentive & adjusted it with no extra charge — great service!
All in all, Hopscotch is a fantastic place to relax, enjoy great food and cocktails, and soak in the atmosphere. Highly recommend checking it out!

This used to be one of my favourite spots, but my last few visits have been disappointing. When I went with friends a few weeks ago, some dishes were just okay, while others were downright poor (especially the tuna carpaccio). I returned recently with my husband and we ordered the Nashville fried chicken, which was once a favourite. It’s no longer the same, no cornbread, the aioli is nowhere near as good as it used to be, and it seemed greasy. On top of that, our server seemed disengaged and rushed us, even though the place wasn’t busy. Overall, a regrettable experience from a place I used to love.

First off, service and drinks were fantastic. The missing star is because the food, while tasty, just - wasn’t exceptional. (On the drinks front, my Key Lime Pie cocktail was a boozy, drinkable version of the dessert - very impressive.) The half hen… the skin was satisfyingly crispy, and the three bites with pickles in them were tied together perfectly by those pickles. However, parts of the bird were a little on the dry side, and there was just something missing from the pickle-free bites. The fries were the perfect texture, but a little light on the salt and served without a dipping sauce. The chocolate mousse had a good cocoa flavour but was definitely on the heavy side, and the brown sugar bourbon shaved ice on top helped with that but was overpowered by the chocolate flavour-wise. All in all, I would happily bring people here for drinks, but I’m not sure if I’d eat here again.

Extremely concerning behaviour faced on July 19, 2025. I walked in with a friend who was there to witness the Moonlight Bazaar and we decided to sit at a bar. The two of us walked passed and saw from outside that this place had high bar chairs and we liked it. We walked in hoping to be seated but to our horror, a woman staff grabbed my arm, said a loud “No” and rushed me out. No question asked about how many of us are there or where we would like to be seated. Even if the place was filled, we could be informed that there was no space or that it required prior reservation or there is a dress code.
As I was being moved out, I asked if I could at least use the restroom and she said “walk down to the end of the street.”
Whatever the reason for denial of service was, it could have been communicated rather than grabbing customers by their arms and walking them out.
I understand in restaurants, we wait to be seated but at bars we take the available chairs.
This is the first place I have come across which is filtering people out for god knows what reasons.

Gone back a couple times because the food and drinks are so good here! We did have an issue with a dish this time (first time ever), and the service was incredible - no questions asked, helped us out with it and didn’t turn it into a big deal. Staff are great. food and drinks are delicious and will be returning again!

Swanky cocktail bar featuring Canadian spirits and thoughtful non-alcoholic options. 🥃 We popped in for a round and grabbed two seats at the bar. Service was prompt and welcoming, and the drinks were beautifully crafted.
We tried two takes on an Old Fashioned, one with rum, the other a classic, and both were balanced and bold. The jalapeño lemonade delivered a flavorful kick, no booze needed. 🌶️🍋
It is a perfect spot to unwind with a sophisticated sip. Don’t miss it if you’re in town!
Very nice atmosphere service was good. However, they didn't have the bottle of wine we choose from the menu, but they made it work. We had app's which were generally good for the better part..
I’m sure from the price of your food you can afford to heat the place! Turn the flipping heat up!!!
The Best! hands-down if only it was closer to Halifax
