I’ve been a regular customer at the Subway on the east side of Saint John for years, but this location has had problems for a long time. The app has never worked properly here, there have been repeated issues with orders, and I’ve been more patient than I should have been. Out of convenience, I kept going back. But after this latest experience, I’m done.
On my last visit, the same staff handling food were also cleaning the floors and bathrooms while the store was still open. Even if hands were washed, that doesn’t make it acceptable or sanitary. On top of that, one of the staff sneezed over my sandwiches. By the time I got home, I felt sick just looking at them and ended up throwing them out.
When I raised the issue, the franchisee, Peter McMaster, dismissed it. His response was to offer me two 6-inch subs (less than what I paid) and to lecture me with this line: “Since you were there at the time the incident occurred and noted it in real time, you did have an opportunity to raise the issue at the counter.”
That statement is insulting. Expecting a customer to loudly confront staff ten minutes before closing just to have a legitimate concern taken seriously is unreasonable and disrespectful. Customers should not have to cause a scene to be treated fairly.
This is not a one-time mistake. It’s part of a pattern of chronic problems at this location, from poor service to unsanitary practices to dismissive management. After years of patience, Subway has permanently lost my business. If this is how issues are handled under Peter McMaster’s leadership, I strongly recommend others think twice before eating here.

The sandwich looked absolutely beautiful, the staff were amazing and it was an extremely pleasant experience. Would recommend!
Phone in order set twenty minutes took forty
I don’t think I’ve waited longer for a sub in my life …. Was pretty certain the owner was going to finish his book keeping at the back table that he started as I arrived, before I got my order taken.
I ordered from this store For the very First time and I ordered 3 footlongs by delivery, first of all I get the delivery 40 minutes late.
Thats okay! But the main thing was the food, that was so disgusting, not even one of my footlongs was toasted, moreover the veggies we half-frozen and they were all dissipated. I immediately called the store 2 times and they are not picking up my call!
So my first experience from this store is ridiculous and very disappointing!
The most insulting staff I have ever seen, they only had enough meatballs for a 6 inch and I had asked how long for more. I was told they have not started making more & I said I guess I will just go with a 6 inch as it is the only sub I really like from subway, when I said this one of the staff laughed directly at me and then said something to his coworker in their language. So I said nevermind to the 2 subs I was ordering and walked out. I said next time don't laugh at your customers that is rude. Then they all started saying HA-HA repeatedly. I then asked who the manager on duty was. I was told there was not one. I asked who had their serv safe or food handlers because that would be the high authority of the shift. Noone did. This is against New Brunswick health & safety guidelines & if an inspector went in your store would have been shut down. This occurance was on dec 18th . I will also be going in to speak to someone tomorrow about this issue as this is not a reflection of customer service.
Some of the staff were wonderful, but others spoke in an insulting manner and were unwilling to add enough ingredients or sauces, which made the food tasteless. They seemed indifferent to customer satisfaction, leaving us feeling uncomfortable and awkward.

Very rude staff
Staff is more concerned about cleaning the store instead of attending customers. There faces clearly explain they don’t wanna attend any customers while cleaning ( 2 hours before the closing time)

Great customer service from the whole team and JOANNE is very nice and polite
Staff were confused and would not honour a "buy1 sub get another for $3" coupon, insisting it wasn't real and arguing that you can never get a sub for $3. They first tried to ring it in as a $3 off coupon. Ended up voiding the trans and charging 50% off for the 2nd sub. Prices were all weird and inconsistent on the receipts too.
Wrote to corporate and franchisee peter mcmaster sent a canned apology saying he'd send a free sub coupon. Been about two months and he ain't sent squat. Thanks bud!
