Wonderful dining experience at Suwanna. New restaurant on Germain opened earlier in 2025. You will be saying Wow!! when you walk in here. The décor and visual appeal of this restaurant is quite amazing. The back lit bar top I have not seen anywhere and there are a couple tables with this feature. Furniture is unique and beautiful. Beautiful ice lights. Backlit bar is awesome. We had our meal inside but they also have a very nice patio/terrace area with some of the nicest flowers in Saint John.
Served by Chris and his service was great. Good recommendations on food and watched him mix some great drinks behind the bar. He knows his way around a restaurant.
Also, we noticed a friendly lady making her way around the restaurant. Chatted with her a bit and found out she owns the place. If you see Donna, say hi, she is wonderful. Loved her enthusiasm when discussing building this restaurant and describing their food.
We had maple chicken curry pasta. I had mine as described on the menu with penne pasta. My wife had it with pad thai noodles. It was great, smelled so good when brought out to us. Probably mid spicy range (to me) and chicken was cooked very nice. And then for dessert we split a carrot cake, very moist and delicious cake. Great meal here.

Service and food was excellent, enhanced by the stunning interior, making for an overall fantastic experience. Their green curry is probably the best I've had (spicy!), and I will be back to try their other curries.

I also have to give a moment to the chocolate and peanut butter cake (the Eugenie I believe??). It was unlike anything I've had and really was to die for.

The rest of our table had the pad thai, cashew stir fry, and sweet and sour chicken. Everyone raved about their meals and left happy and full.

Amazing food and the best hospitality.
The new restaurant location on Germain has been meticulously designed and suits the high end feel that this restaurant has to offer.

Do not go here!!!! The reviews are lying or FAKE!! There are some really weird things going on at this restaurant….. take your money and business elsewhere.

One Star – I Was the Girl in the Pink Hat

I’ve never felt so small in a restaurant before.

My friends and I had a reservation at Suwanna. We were seated, ordered a drink and appetizers. We were genuinely excited to try the food. About 45 minutes in; after settling into conversation and starting what we thought would be a great night. I was blindsided. Our waitress awkwardly approached our table and told me I needed to take off my fuzzy pink hat or they wouldn’t serve us.

Let me be clear:
There was NO dress code posted.
No one said a word when we booked.
No one mentioned anything when we walked in, were greeted, seated, or placed our order. Only after we had a drink in hand and food on the way.

Apparently, the owner had been watching us on camera and decided from wherever they were that my outfit didn’t meet some unspoken standard. There was no sign. No heads-up. Just a sudden public correction that left me feeling exposed and embarrassed in front of everyone in the room.

I wasn’t wearing anything offensive. Just a soft, fuzzy hat that made me feel cute and in that moment they made me feel like a problem.

What hurt most wasn’t the food we didn’t get it was the way the staff was clearly uncomfortable enforcing something they didn’t even seem to believe in. We ended up leaving, but not before tipping our server, who had to carry out the message like a pawn in someone else’s game. She didn’t deserve that. Neither did we.

We go out every Friday and support restaurants across Saint John. We also work in the service industry, so we know what respect and hospitality look like. Suwanna failed at both. If your standards are so rigid; post them clearly. Don’t ambush guests. Don’t micromanage from a screen. And don’t ask people to pay for an experience that left them feeling small.

If there’s a dress code, say so. Don’t wait for a camera check-in to decide someone isn’t the “right look” for your dining room.

I left that night hungry, humiliated, and heartbroken. I won’t be back and surely won’t be quiet about it.

This wasn’t about a policy. This was about control.

Food is very good but portions are not too big as they claim. Dinner portion doesn’t look much bigger than lunch portion. Waiting time is too long. We were the second table at the place and the pasta took very long to be ready.

I made a reservation over a month in advance for 7 people for my birthday. When we arrived for our seating they said they didn’t have our reservation. I explained that I had called and even requested a specific booth if possible and showed them my call history where I had the 3 minute phone conversation 5 weeks earlier. They said they must have forgot to write it down. The rest of our guests were standing outside waiting in the rain. They did not offer a later seating - and simply said sorry there’s nothing we can do. A terrible way to spend an evening after planning our dinner out for so many weeks.

I called them for a take-out order on a Saturday and was told to call 2 hours later. I called them 2 hours later, but no one picked up. I left several voice messages and got no reply. I tried one last time after 15 minutes, and someone picked up, but they didn't have the items I wanted to order for dinner. If Dine-In customers are more important than Take-Out ones, they should let people know in the first interaction & not waste their time. Will never place a Take-Out order or ever set foot in here. You should not be in the customer service business if you cannot provide the customer with services.

We went for lunch today at Susanna for the first time. The service, portion, atmosphere were even better with the new shiny location. The taste if it's possible was even better than usual. Congratulations on your new adventure and based on today's visit you have a winner. We will be back soon and will bring friends.

Mark and I joined Donna Watkins, Mike, James, Bee this evening for the unveiling of their gorgeous, artistic masterpiece which is Suwanna. The food was absolutely delicious, 10/10. 2 appetizers, curry puffs, baked pieces of potato with yummy bits on top, 3 shared entree’s served on beautiful dishes; Massaman curry chicken, padthai, cashew chicken, family style, and the best carrot cake I have ever had. Wine and beer in beautiful glasses. The service was fabulous, friendly easygoing, knowledgeable servers. Did I mention how beautiful that room is?! We didn’t feel like we were in Saint John, the walls are black marble, stunning, unusual ceiling, fantastic padded chairs, and several tables and bar were cleverly under lit…gave a beautiful atmospheric glow. The wall at the bar is stunning marble and also backlit. I could go on and on but you have to have some surprise when YOU go! We are speechless at how perfect our date was at the newly pointed Suwanna. It’s a Feast for every sense.🩵
