Great quality food, cooked right! Friendly staff, large portions and great prices

Ordered from drive thru. Ordered BBQ plate. The hushpuppies were over cooked and soaked in grease. The fries were overcooked and greasy. The BBQ was full of hard pieces. It is sad that we don't have other options for later in the evening for BBQ in Asheboro. The last few times we have been it has been just horrible.

The chopped BBQ sandwich is mid grade and the baked beans are bush's baked beans. Just a disgrace for BBQ.

My wife and I stopped here during a recent trip to North Carolina. I asked our hotel manager where we should go if we wanted great Carolina style bbq and she said that hands down, we needed to head over to Henry James Bar-B-Que. Their bbq was fresh and amazing. The pork was perfectly smoked with just the right amount of smoke. Their award winning hush puppies were unbelievably incredible.

I got the sliced bbq and my wife got the Brunswick stew, food was amazing loved the hush puppies and strawberry cobbler will definitely stop back in on our travels.

Good food, staff is always helpful & nice. The restaurant is also always very clean. Also, the honey butter for the hush puppies is ON POINT(don’t let your husband talk you into trying one with ketchup????) && the sweet BBQ sauce w/ a tad of the hot ontop of the BBQ makes it 100X better IMO.

Henry James BBQ is one of my favorite places in Asheboro. When I visit I can never decide between chopped barbecue sandwiches and a double cheeseburger. Both are delicious with a side of hush puppies! I also love it when strawberry cobbler is available. It's so delicious

They only serve pork, no chicken or beef. The BBQ sauce is vinegar based and not very robust. Cold slaw is served on top of the pork in the sandwich. The cold slaw served on the Chopped Pork plate was brownish, suggesting it was beyond it prime; same for the sandwich. The hushpuppies were chrisp on the outside, but doughy on the inside. There's no reason to ever go back.

Server at counter cursed people in the cooking area and flipped the bird ( middle finger) at guys in kitchen while customers at the counter
