Super cute spot in downtown Asheboro! Waitress was very nice and owner is a great host. Their fried chicken is sooo delicious! Their lemonade is super sweet so I asked to water it down and it was perfect. The waitress remembered to water it down at the next refill which was very thoughtful. Potato salad and yams were delicious sides as well. We were there for lunch, however, waitress advised menu is different for dinner. She said to look on Facebook for their menu as it changes everyday and it's posted daily there.

My wife and I had lunch at Magnolia 23 this afternoon and we are very glad we stopped in.My most simplified take on our experience here today is 1 word: Balance.Everything we had was made with thoughtfulness and precision to be the best it could be.I ordered the chicken & dumplings with black eyed peas and green beans as my sides, and everything was amazing. The flavors were perfectly balanced and the portions were exactly the right size to enjoy as a full meal and also take some home.My wife ordered the fried chicken (dark meat), with yams and potato salad, which were all phenomenal. The meat was juice and tender while the skin was crisp and delicious. The yams were executed to perfection, offering a texture that was smooth, with flavor that brought out the flavors of the yam and not overly sweet. The potato salad had everything it needed and reminded me of how my grandmother made hers when I was a kid.My wife and I both had the home-made lemonade which is really good, but just a tad on the sweet side, so I requested to have a little bit of water to mix it with. For dessert, we split the pineapple cake. It was light, airy and flavorful without having huge chunks of pineapple in every bite.Again.. balance. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the staff is friendly and inviting as well.We have lived in the area for over 2 years and I can't believe this is our first time here. The menu changes regularly, so I am looking forward to whatever they are serving during our next visit.Thank you to everyone at Magnolia 23, this meal was amazing.

We have picked up takeout several Friday nights and get a fried chicken plate and catfish pate and desserts. Tonight we drove from Randleman to Asheboro for our take out plates. Their food tastes great and great customer service. Tonight I am absolutely embarrassed for them that they decided it was acceptable to serve this fried chicken. I have included the picture of the plate because the chicken leg and thigh are absolutely tiny. The cornbread even fits in the entree section with the chicken it's so small. With plenty of space to spare. This is not equivalent to our previous fried chicken plates. I am beyond disappointed. I suppose they kept their better sized chicken to serve to dine in customers only.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. We received our food 5 minutes after we ordered. It was AMAZING! Everything was fresh and homemade. I had the ox tails and it fell off the bone into a tasty gravy sauce. These weren’t no small ox tails either. This place should be franchised! They were also so friendly and kind. Love this place!

Small town local eatery focused on good down home food. Chicken was 5 star for sure. I had to have strict standards as I drove an hour 20 minutes to come here. Very crowded and tight. We are with other people which I'm not a fan of. Not all tables are like this. My iced tea was only filled once. I wasn't upset but this isn't 5 star service. The owner is warm and happy. I felt welcome. Desserts were worth trying. My main complaint is other than the chicken everything was cold. Portions were on the small side as well but not bad for the price. My pics are on other phone. I will come back and post.
