Hands down my favorite BBQ spot. I enjoy it’s not the same chopped BBQ, it’s got a bit of a Smokey flavor with small pieces of fat mixed throughout. Absolutely delicious every time. On top of that the side are plentiful and many options too choose from!

Really great eastern NC style barbecue. The smoke flavor was impressive and I enjoyed the sweet potatoes. Well worth the effort to visit.

B's, Skylight Inn, Parkers, Gradys, Wilburs, etc all very good. I place Bum's just a hair above all these, & taking nothing away from any of them. Bum's has just a slightly better flavor, nice little heat going on, prominent smoky flavor and great side items.

The food is super bland and boring. The food is comparable to school cafeteria / military chow hall food in the sense that it is obviously made in as large of a batch for absolutely as cheap as possible. The mac & cheese taste like it came straight out of a giant plastic bag. They just don't put much into their food. The closest thing to seasoning on any of their side dishes is the little bit of water that it's sitting in. I've genuinely been more impressed by hospital food before. The BBQ was decent but there's a much better option right down the road, without naming names. A lot of the locals absolutely adore this place but I just don't understand what they see in it.

More like A Real Pigpickin BBQ than the usual Mainstream BBQ joint . If you want true ENC Pulled pork , fried chicken and all the fixins grandma made then this is your place. If you want what "people that THINK they know what BBQ is " go to one of the other places and leave the good food to those of use that TRULY know what DOWN EAST BBQ is. I have tried them all and ALWAYS come back to BUMS for the best!
