A small group of us ladies gathered here to have lunch together on the advice of a local who loves the sweet potato muffins. The fact that BUM’s was voted the best of eastern North Carolina was also a plus. I chose the vegetable plate with generous portions of potato salad, real homemade macaroni and cheese plus handmade dumplings with two mini loaves of cornbread muffins. Hands down my favorite BBQ spot. I enjoy it’s not the same chopped BBQ, it’s got a bit of a Smokey flavor with small pieces of fat mixed throughout. Absolutely delicious every time. On top of that the side are plentiful and many options too choose from!
B's, Skylight Inn, Parkers, Gradys, Wilburs, etc all very good. I place Bum's just a hair above all these, & taking nothing away from any of them. Bum's has just a slightly better flavor, nice little heat going on, prominent smoky flavor and great side items.
