Skylight Inn BBQ is the very best in Eastern NC BBQ in my opinion. It is simple and delicious. Wood cooked to perfection whole hog pork . Slaw,cornbread,and of course the banana pudding are a must addition to the BBQ.
Have been eating there for almost 60 years, personally I think it's the best there is. I tried it in Chicago, Montreal, Maine, New York, Miami, no BBQ like that except Eastern North Carolina and it's the best there is, I drove a tracktor trailers and searched some, after I tried in state after state in different areas, None of them are close. Sam's BBQ in Greenville NC is a close second and he is even kin to Pete.
Average.. bbq was on the dry side. Not worth the wait.
