We are visiting for the weekend and found this local spot-gem. The very best shrimp we’ve ever had. The hush puppies are so delicious. Will be back. Will tell everyone. Our waitress was great. Food was great. Everyone was so friendly.

After years of searching, I have finally found the best hot hamburger plate. Really, everything is good here. Seafood to meatloaf to chicken and pastry... you really can't go wrong. Warm friendly service, hush puppies, heavenly sweet tea. This place is the best.

Top Tier phenomenal service from Adam always making sure we had hush puppies and drink refills , our server Ella was awesome as well. They made this a 5 star review ! We ordered Oysters and scallops which were great … unfortunately we were not happy with the fried flounder, crab cake or fried shrimp … but we will still come back for the amazing breakfast and hamburger steak n gravy.

Very bad experience. It took forever to get our food, then it was cold. Waitress offered to microwave my breakfast(eggs and toast). Cashier was extremely rude. No excuse, they had very few customers.

We had large shrimpburgers, their Hushpuppies (best I’ve ever had) and fried okra on a Monday lunch. Excellent (not heavy batter on shrimp) and great service. Highly recommend lunch.

What a horrible place to eat!
I have no idea how this establishment is in business!
They must have their property paid off and get a bunch of the elderly folks as customers because, there isn't anywhere else for them to go.
Honestly, I'd rather stay home and eat a can of chef boyardi raviolis for a dollar!

Drove from Greenville, NC to pick up my aunt in New Bern to take to Charley's for lunch. Before being put in a retirement facility, she went to Charley's regularly. Now, she does not have a car or a way to go. She likes to meet her friend Nancy who eats there almost daily. I have done this several times and the food has been good and the service also. Not today. A group of four came in behind us and waitress took their order first. Very slow to bring hushpuppies, had to be reminded. (At 11:30, they were not that busy). When we got the menu, prices had increased about $4 since last time we came. I ordered Crab Cakes and, when I cut into them, they were bigtime overcooked. When tasting them, they were cold and so where the french-fries. Nancy asked waitress to send it back to be reheated. We waited about 15 minutes and Nancy asked where my food was. (the others had almost finished their meal.) When they brought the crab cakes back out, they were overcooked even more this time. Seems like service has really gone down hill since the last time we were there about two months ago. I will not be returning.

I use to come here Alot with family. I ordered she crab soup. Wait 20 minutes to pick up my order. When I get there she tells me there is no she crab soup. So I will just take the shrimp burger. It takes the 30 miniutes to get me a shrimp burger. Asked for cocktail sauce gave me ketchup. I will not be returning

It seems Charlie’s can’t follow Thur with getting takeout orders correct,this is not the first time.after making a phone call concerning my order their remedy to take care of the problem is driving 25 miles and return to Charlie’s for 2 pieces of chicken.I would like say also I have dined in for dinner and this is has been more than one time as well, my server never came back not one time to offer if I wanted more tea, I’m done with Charlie’s restaurant.
