While wandering the streets of Belhaven for the first time, we came across this bakery. I am so glad we did. Immediately upon entering the bakery, we noticed the adorable decor. We we're greeted in a very friendly matter the second we arrived at the counter. It was suggested we try a piece of cheesecake. While they all looked exceptional, we decided on the strawberry. It was delicious - sweet, tangy, and smooth! We also tried a few different kinds of cookies and a cinnamon roll which were all good, but the standout was the cheesecake. If I ever make my way down to the area again, I will definitely stop in for a slice or two.

I found this place randomly as me and my family were strolling around Belhaven. I got Smores cheesecake , Reese’s pie , a blonde brownie and a cookie. This cheesecake is the best cheesecake I’ve ever had, the blondie brownie is perfectly sweet and salty. The pie is rich and exploding with flavors , I am so impressed. Hidden gem for sure!

Very nice bakery and sandwich shop!! The pimento cheese was hands down the best ever and the mad cow brisket had a great smokey flavor. Had banana cream cheesecake and key lime pie for dessert, rhey were delicious!! 👍🏻👍🏻A hidden gem!!

The Mad Batter made my wedding cake! It was a strawberry shortcake wedding cake with buttercream frosting to feed 100 ppl. It was exactly as I wanted with a vintage design feel. Not to mention it tasting amazing!!

They opened promptly at 10am just as advertised. I grabbed a dozen cookies for a pig picking. Great assortment and tasty and very reasonably priced for bakery cookies. Very happy to have them in town!

A friend and I took a day trip to explore Belhaven, so we were definitely at the Mad Batter in Belhaven. I am not a person who likes to post reviews, but this was so disappointing that I felt compelled to write about it. We were there Saturday, Jan. 25th. A lot of places were closed and we were happy to find the bakery was still open and looked forward to sitting down and enjoying a place that had been recommended by a local. We barely had time to eat our food when the lights started being turned off making it clear we were no longer wanted on premises. It was very rude! We hurriedly scarfed down the remainder of our lunch and got up to leave. The food was good, but the southern hospitality was certainly lacking. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich and wasn't told about the chips that came with the meal or where they were located requiring a trip back up to the counter to inquire about them. Having never been there before, it would have been nice if the staff had been more communicative about where to get napkins and spoons etc. After leaving we saw there was a Mexican restaurant across the street and lamented not taking our patronage there instead.

Delicious sandwiches and baked goods in Belhaven! Delightfully decorated and very very clean. Pleasant and attentive staff. Greatly appreciate the gluten free subs, cookies, and brownies. Easy block and a half walk from the water. Look forward to coming back!
