After hiking nearby Crowder Mountain and Kings Mountain, and being out many more hours than planned, we showed up hungry and with our dog, Rocky. They welcomed us on a busy Saturday evening and sat us almost immediately on the outdoor patio. They suggested healthy food choices for a dog snack, & brought him water. Now for the food for us: wow. The burgers were fall apart in your hand butcher shop fresh and had unique flavor profiles. Nothing on the menu could be a wrong choice (unless you accidentally order the ghost peppers and aren’t a spice fan). The light crisp ONB Pilsner paired well with the Red Corvette burger as well as the Angry Cow Pig. BUT My fan favorite was the asparagus side. Best asparagus I’ve had in my life, I think. Grilled to perfection and flavored lightly and just enough. Not soft. Not too crisp. I will be back and you should too.

Parking: We parked in a little next door that was free this time of night but there was street parking and also on site parking

Kid-friendliness: Amazing kid food options -it’s what we fed our dog.

Service phenomenal.

Kitchen in dire need of new management. Hopefully this is they wake up they need. It’s absolutely disappointing the food the kitchen puts out. I am astonished they have stayed in business this long. I have tried to give the benefit of the doubt but below is an account of several different instances eating at String Bean over 5 years.

Food positives:
Kids quesidilla
Regular Fries
Pickle chips

Food negatives:
Philly cheesesteak sandwich: half of the sandwich with no meat. Overall very little meat on the half of the sandwich that had meat. Mostly peppers and onions. Cheese was half melted.
Burgers: meat is over mixed, over spiced and over seasoned seasoned
Caprese sandwich with chicken: Sprinkling of chicken not at all the expectation of paying additional for chicken. The amount is akin to one single deli slice from the grocery store.
Chicken tenders (chicken dippers): overcooked and dry.
Belmont Chicken sandwich: breading doesn’t stick, everything slips around, complete sloppy mess, in editable in sandwich form.
Duck fat fries are immaterially different from the regular fries. The up charge is a rip off.

Do not order gift cards from this establishment. I was charged twice. I contacted them and asked if they sent 2 gift cards and they said yes I said I cant cancel the card as rude to person that received it, they did it anyway and sent a email to the person. I told them I absolutely did not want that. They made a total mess of everything. Save yourself aggrevation, get a card from another establishment.

If you are in DownTown Belmont looking for an enjoyable dinner, maybe try another spot. Poor Service. Poor Management. Avoid getting the Blackened Fish tacos-

First time in Downtown Belmont and chose to eat at The String Bean for dinner. Immediately upon entering there was clear confusion & frustration between the host staff and other guests being seated. This set a poor tone. Our waitress took some time getting to us to provide drinks so we were ready to order on her first visit. I noticed confusion at the table behind us where a bigger party was seated regarding the items on individuals checks. Once our food arrived by a separate food runner we were unsatisfied with the amount of fish given with the tacos. We are reasonable people, it could have been resolved easily. But the waitress did not attend our table again until bringing the check, so we had to opt for getting the attention from another server who was not friendly or eager to help us out. We just simply asked for our server or the manager in hopes to 1. See if the amount of fish provided was normal & if so 2. Ask for an additional side of fish even if needing to purchase it. Minutes later the manager came over with a short and defensive attitude, failed to resolve the issue, and didn't even acknowledge our empty glasses on the table. We are a younger couple, and can't help but wonder if we were not attended to with fairness because of this.

My daughter & I were the 2nd customers at 11:05 on this Friday morning. They unfortunately messed up my daughter’s order in 2 ways at 11:20. I received my order & sat there for OVER AN HOUR waiting for my daughter’s re-fire!!! MANY new customers received their food before my daughter received her re-fire. AN HOUR’s worth!!! In the end, at 12:35, the waitress FINALLY brought my daughter’s correct sandwich & told us that management took $7.00 off. Wow! We will never go there again! Terrible.

The food is good, however I had a pretty awful experience. We were the second people in the restaurant this afternoon at around 11am. We were seated right away and ordered pretty quickly after. It took about 30-45 minutes to receive our meals (when others that were seated after us, were getting their food first). We ordered cold sandwiches, so not sure why the delay. When my food came out, it wasn't what I ordered, so I asked if it could be remade. I then proceeded to watch FIVE others tables get their food while I waited for my COLD sandwich to come out!! I after 90 minutes of being there and still not getting my corrected sandwich, I had to ask for it to be put in a to-go box because I had to go. I get that mistakes happen, but when the kitchen gets an order wrong, re-fires are always the next plate to go out! You don't complete 5 other orders and then get to the one you messed up. And on top of all of that, we were still expected to pay 50% of the sandwich. I'm not a confrontational person, so I didn't push - but if the sandwich would have been comped, I would probably not be leaving this review. Terrible customer service. I can't imagine what it would be like on a busy night, much less a weekday lunch. I may have never gotten my food. I will not be back.

I’ve had a better chicken and waffles from a hospital and didn’t have to pay 18$ for it. Advice: have what the menu describes to be the food that’s brought out to the customer.

Just had dinner there and order an 8 oz salmon with two sides, got the smallest piece of salmon possible and they forgot one side, waiter ignored our table, didn’t refilled waters and didn’t ask how the meal was because we didn’t got a chance to tell her it was wrong. Overall bad experience for an expensive dinner out, we were hoping for a good meal and ok service but didn’t get any.

The right amount of comfort food meets date night. Great choices of wine and beer to choose from. If you’re a fan of Reuben sandwiches, this is a place to try! Their corned beef is made in house from their butcher and you can tell it’s authentic. Very delicious! If you’re feeling adventurous for dessert, their Fried Oreos are amazing!

This has been one of my favorite places to come for years. Consistently great service, food, patio seating, and beer!! This is such a gem for craft beer lovers in Belmont. I always find craft beer on tap that I can’t get most places, and I will typically pick up a couple to-go beers in the market. Also, the wine selection is amazing too.

Don’t sleep on this place.

First time dining here. Food was great, service was phenomenal, beer selection was good. I reccomend the boom boom shrimp, pimento cheese, eggplant fries, and the cow pig burgers. If you like sours, you absolutely must try the PB&J mixtape on tap. I cannot describe this brew other than pb&j and my childhood in a can. Sans the alcohol of course. I'm not a fan of sours but this is hands down the best one I have ever tasted. Had three while here.
