Fantastic food! My wife and I shared a combo with white meat chicken. This is quintessential Eastern North Carolina BBQ. Sid cooks whole pigs over coals. The chopped bbq was spot on with fantastic slaw and hushpuppies. The BBQ comes with a piece of crispy skin. The service was great and Sid the owner came and spoke to us and even gave us a tour of the pit. Be sure to come early, bring cash, and know they’re only open on Saturdays.
Cleanest NC BBQ I've ever had, no gristle. These folks know how to chop. And the slaw was refreshing, not too sweet. Chicken was delicious too. And if you are lucky enough to snag some baked goods from Sid's grand niece (Me and Ma's) definitely don't just get one cupcake... They're really good!
Ok. So this might be the best bbq I’ve ever had in my life. I know for a fact that these are the best hush puppies I’ve ever had, and that’s absolutely definitive. They were super sweet, and gorgeously crunchy on the outside. The pork was beyond incredible, chopped so finely and perfectly tender. The big shard of cracklin’ really was a chef’s kiss. This place is only open one day a week, and often sells out, and is kind of near absolutely nothing, but make the pilgrimage...
