We were there for our Valentines Day celebration. The restaurant had a set menu offering three main entree choices(halibut, filet, vegetarian)three appetizers and two deserts for $95 per person. Based on their regular menu prices, I feel like we got fleeced given there were no added Valentine "perks", not even a complimentary glass of wine. When we first sat down, the couples on both sides of us warned us that the halibut was terrible, not seasoned and not fresh, which disappointed my soon to be fiancée who does not eat read meat. We were required to tell our waitress what we wanted for all three courses up front, which at the time I didn't think anything of. Then at that point everything seem rushed. Our appetizers came out within minutes, ok good service but made in advance. After our plates cleared, the main courses were out almost immediately, rush, rush rush... I do expect attentive service when I dine out, but our waitress was a little overwhelming stopping by almost too often and felt like she had to get into our faces to talk. Even when she delivered our dessert, she walked away maybe three tables, did a Uturn and came right back to ask how everything was. I hadn't even picked my fork up yet! My filet was not that good. Wondering if it had been precooked and then just heated on the grill again before being served. The lack of seasonings was noticed. It was garnished with what I thought was supposed to be seafood, but had zero flavor. I want to note here that usually I will order a Filet if its on a restaurants menu, and this is possibly the worst I have ever had. When we were done, we were not even asked if there was anything else we wanted, another glass of wine, etc.. just brought out the check. It felt like we were on an assembly line from start to finish. No time to just enjoy ourselves in what was billed a fine dining experience. The restaurant was not even busy! The $95 per person was just a money grab. I ended up proposing elsewhere.
I was treated with the upmost hospitality and kindness while being served to. I highly recommend if you haven't been here to eat dinner, you need to check them out. Great team of staff.
Really nice ambiance and decor. It was really quiet, being in January, but the food war really good, nice variety on the menu, and the service really attentive.
As full timers in Blowing Rock, we (sadly) don't take advantage enough of the Embers restaurant and bar. It's a gorgeous restaurant and when you step through the door, you'd think you were in a place like Nashville, New York or Park City, Utah. The bartender is attentive and made a great martini, our server was incredibly kind and attentive, without hovering. I wish the menu had a little more variety, but the shrimp and grits were great, albeit extra spicy. We had a lovely dinner out with friends and will take advantage of this gem more often.
Very long wait time for the food despite minimal people in the restaurant. Once the food was brought out everything was extremely cold as if it had been sitting back there. Server was attentive and very nice. Unsure what was going on behind the scenes for the food to be so cold.
Ugh. Ate here back in June...so good that we came back two nights later and wish we found this new spot earlier in our trip! So, my husband and I were so excited to come back as our previous server was fantastic (so we asked for her again when we came the second night in June). The food was delicious and the ambiance was cozy and welcoming. Fast forward to the other night...things seemed off. My husband said his filet was good, but carrots and mashed potatoes were cold. I had the orechiette and added grilled chicken. The pasta felt like leftover, sat out all day, definitely not fresh pasta which killed the dish. Although it was hot, or at least warm enough, it was a disappointment. The Cesar salad, which was previously a hit, was wet, not crispy. The tomato soup wasn't bad but it was missing a side of crostini or croutons to top. And our server seemed overwhelmed perhaps or something. She was nice but just not what we had the first two times which was bubbly and welcoming. Next time we come back, we will try again at the off chance we came and things were “off”.
We got to enjoy the new menu the day after it was released. Loved the restaurant and staff. Food was wonderful. Embers is a jewel.
We love eating at The Embers in Blowing Rock. Food is always excellent. Great bar and wine selections. The Host, Hostess, and all waitstaff have been wonderful every time. Great bar on the deck as well with small plates! Awesome view over downtown Blowing Rock. Just a little pricey for me to give 5 stars
Not sure if it was a new chef or not, but whoever was cooking dinner needs to find where the seasonings are kept. Never tasted a roast chicken that didn't have even salt and pepper on it. What a tasteless bore. On the plus side, the bartender was great and it was a pleasure to sit at the bar for cocktails and dinner on a cold winter night...brrr.
We came to the Embers to celebrate our engagement. The experience, from begging to end, was great. I called ahead and spoke with Kimberly, who was very helpful reserving the right table - next to the fireplace and Christmas tree. Our server, Ellie, was excellent! She was beyond friendly and provided memorable service. The atmosphere was just what we were looking for. Last but not least, our meals were delicious. We will be back!

Terrible food and high prices - not a good combination. Several really good restaurants in . This is NOT one of them.
one of our better dining experiences in the Blowing Rock area. Reasonable wine prices when others are charging $60 for plonk. Enjoyable evening
We ate there for the first time and the service was excellent! Our smoked bourbon cocktail was delicious And the food was excellent. We will be back
Noise level was our only issue. Seems very loud in there & er were seated pretty far from the bar area where we felt it was the loudest. Our server Alexa was great, food was fantastic!!
We were not thrilled that the first several restaurants we attempted to get reservations for were booked. We wound up at Embers sort of as a last resort so our expectations were not high. How happy we were with EVERYTHING! The food was remarkable, so much so that we inquired of the chef's training. Our server was personable and helpful and made certain we had all things exactly the way we desired. We had trout, salmon, and 2 orders of the pork chop. All four of us were thrilled and even decided to stay no only for desert but for after dinner drinks, as well. The ambiance was super chill and we would up chatting with other parties dining there as well. We will happily go back again and have already shared our experience with some locals who had not been there yet. Good job!
