Food was overpriced. Quality of food wasn't good. Soup was nasty. If your charging touristy prices you better have good food. People all around us at other tables were complaining as well.

I used tend bar here in the early 2000s, I had the fondest memories of the people, the amazing food and atmosphere that brought me back to my childhood in England. After a 15 year hiatus I was so pleased to return to the friendly staff, the fish n chips were just as delicious as so had remembered it to be and the scotch eggs were still amazing!! So happy to support this wonderful family owned business!!

Great pork chops! My wife and I were visiting Blowing Rock to do some hiking. Popped into Six Pence on a Sunday night for dinner. The pork chops came with mashed potatoes with a jalapeño sausage gravy that was out of this world. My wife’s salad was packed with chicken. We’ll visit again next time we are in Blowing Rock.

2nd time here. Food is amazing. First time burgers, 2nd time fish and chips. The place is a little compact, and the wait to get a beer to your table is like 10 minutes. If I got a beer faster I would have ordered two, and this was both times.

Ate here with my friend after a hike on Labor Day. We sat down and the restaurant was medium-ish busy, but still waited over 20 minutes for a server to come to us.
We both got the cottage pie and it was so tiny, I have never seen anything like it. For almost $20. The cottage pie was extremely disappointing. It was in a mini crock fit for a side soup. They give you a house salad that is the size of the whole plate so it kind of throws your eyes off guard. You basically are paying $20 for a side salad and a small cup of shepherds pie. The Guinness was $10 and the cocktail I ordered was $15. The cocktail was not strong. For $15? At a bar? Cmon. Somehow two cottage pies and two drinks came out to $75.
I always leave exclusively five star reviews, but this was so disappointing. If you were in the area, I would not recommend dining in here as it’s not a true Irish bar and everything is super expensive for what it is.

I grew up in Blowing Rock and used to stop into six pence for the occasional beer or for their formerly good fish and chips. After my last visit I'll never go back. Young guy serving was very nice but there were flies everywhere, the restaurant was filthy and the food was atrocious. We ordered a burger and fish and chips. Both were beyond awful. Fries were greasy and flavorless. The pricing is egregious for such a shoddy/don't care about food whatsoever establishment. If I could give it negative stars I would. The only reason this place stays in business is location and by duping tourists. I knew better, but gave it one last shot.
