My very favorite place in Olive blowing rock the chef is so magnificent that you should never ever even think to suggest changing anything that he makes because this man knows what he’s doing his beautiful wife works there as well and you will get five star service and the best food and all of blowing raw as well, as having the phenomenal experience of dining and one of blowing rocks, very old establishments, I started going there 30 years ago. It’s just a bar with a bunch of bands and hillbillies and it was fun, but it was also you know crazy fights drugs alcohol now it’s fine dining at its best. The bar menu is phenomenal the main restaurant menu, phenomenal, and the chef maybe one of the best chefs I’ve ever had the experience of enjoying food the way he will make anything that’s on the menu because he’s not gonna he’s not gonna give you anything bad he’s going to make sure he knows what’s good and that’s what you’re going to get and if you think you want it different than he prepares it you’re wrong because he knows just what he’s doing. I highly suggest anyone and I hate to even share this place and I’m not going to even share their specials, but I highly suggest anyone ever going to blowing rock from anywhere in the whole world stop by this gym of a place. They’re only open after five, but you will never be disappointed and don’t ever try to change any special orders because the chef knows better and that’s the only restaurant I can say that about and I’ve traveled the world🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I wrote a review a couple of weeks ago, but it hasn’t been posted. I’ll try again, because I feel so strongly about what I shared.
We ate at Twigs on Thursday evening before Labor Day. It was my husband’s birthday, and we were looking forward to a nice dinner. We had a reservation - but didn’t need it. Our server was excellent - but it went very downhill from there.
First, the atmosphere was cozy but dated. It definitely could use a refresh.
The real issue was the food. It took quite awhile to arrive; our waiter sweetly apologized, saying there had been a mix-up in the kitchen. When the entrees arrived, they both were, very literally, awful. My husband ordered a pasta dish. The pasta was undercooked and dry. Worse, the seasonings were strange and tasted so odd, neither one of us could eat it. My steak, which I ordered medium, arrived raw/bloody. I asked for it to be cooked some more, and when it came back, it was still underdone. And, it had the similar odd/strange seasoning that the pasta had. We sent both meals back, something we’ve never done before.
Please don’t waste your time or money here. It was such a disappointment. (We didn’t pay for the meal, but of course we tipped the waiter well; it wasn’t his fault.)

My husband and I went here on our first night while visiting the area. The atmosphere inside was very cute, perfect for a date. Although we liked what we ate. I had an extremely hard time finding anything to eat as a person with a gluten allergy. The menu was not labeled and the restaurant wasn’t very accommodating. The waiter only had one thing on the entire menu I could eat(a salad), and I added grilled salmon to it. We liked the taste of our meals, however, the portion sizes of the meals left us both hungry after.

We have dined at Twigs many times but on a recent visit, we were taken aback by their high plate sharing fee of $10. This seems exorbitant for such a small restaurant in a small town. At this stage in our lives, my husband and I no longer each order an entree, so Twigs’s policy has made us decide to not return.

The food and service is good. Blowing Rock prices! $60.00 for Grouper. 🤯 And they don't give prices up front, so you are put on the spot to ask. I do like this place, but lesson learned about the specials!

White table cloths and food (both quality and presentation) were excellent. The staff was awesome and the cocktails were perfection! The restaurant atmosphere and cleanliness however, were questionable. At the initial impression, We noted the door at the entrance had smudges and fingerprints on a large part of the door. As we walked in, we appreciated the “twig” furniture but noted the cushions were old and deflated. We also. Noted several Christmas decorations that were still up( it is August). The dining room floor is carpet and that is always a res flag for cleanliness. Overall, again, some of the best food we have had in BR, but…. the negatives will hinder our desire to return. We would love to see a “refresh” for the entire restaurant
First time there, absolutely amazing food!

You better get in line before 5pm if you want to sit in the bar area for sure. The bar area has 2 menu’s to pick and choose from. The food was excellent, now you know why it was so good.

Absolutely awful! Do not go there. The shrimp and grits were too rich. We ordered the pimento cheese. The crackers were stale. Our server told us she would get bread. The bread was so hard that one needed a stone to break it. The fried green tomatoes were too thick and very acidic.

We had a service issue and asked to speak with the manager or assistant manager. Was told nobody was there to help us. We ended up walking out. The good news is we saved $500+ Will never go back. Luckily, the beautiful town of blowing rock has other very nice options.

I hope the owner sees this review. My family of 4 came there tonight at 5 pm after attending the horse show. I live in Boone and knew that Twigs was popular so I planned on being there right at 5 since we didn't have a reservation and we would sit in the bar. We got there at 4:58 and already there was a line outside. When we entered the bar area, it was already half full but we got a table. What I watched over the next hour was a lovely young girl serving the 5 or 6 bar tables. Maybe she had more elsewhere but I could only see the bar area. She was slammed. From exactly at 5 pm she was slammed. Not a gradual business but a total slam from 5 pm. She did it with grace and kindness and no hint of feeling overwhelmed. I told myself Im going to top her well. I did. But thinking about it later, I wished it had been more. What she showed tonight was what tipping should be about. Its not doing your job. Its doing it so much better. She will do well in life if her attitude remains the same. I'll be back and hopefully have her again so I can tip her what she deserves. Tips are earned. Not expected.

This was a very good 'fine dining' experience. Different, unusual and beautifully prepared dinners. One of our party had veal liver and we all tasted it. Best liver I've ever tried. The trout was delicious and we all enjoyed the cheese plate.
