My husband and I have been staying for a few nights at Sunset Beach. We tried two different restaurants at Calabash for dinner our first two nights. The food was not good at either of these two places -- just typical fried everything! We found the Causeway Gourmet while doing a restaurant search, and the menu offered a variety of options. Well, the food was very delicious, and the service was excellent! Pamela waited on us, and explained the menu and kindly answered all our questions. I had the Fennel Rubbed Salmon, and my husband had the Lost Bayou Gumbo. Both dishes were fabulous! The Causeway had a display case full of mouth watering desserts, and we availed ourselves to the Blackberry Ombré Cake. The cake was beautiful with different purple layers. The cake had a wonderful flavor without being too overly sweet or rich -- nice treat! We will definitely come here again on our next beach vacation!!

Saw this on Yelp and we are new to Ocean Island so making our way through a variety of places to eat. Have to say the staff is very attentive and friendly. The dessert counter just blew us away but sadly we had no room left after our meals to try anything - but highly recommend visiting for coffee and either Keylime pie or any of the cheesecakes or other cakes they have! The eating area was very plain but I got the sense that the primary business was probably catering and perhaps having an eating area was a bonus. Not an issue for us just providing a description of where we ate. Very clean and comfortable. We ordered two salads that we doctored up and also had the artichoke crab cheese dip and grilled garlic shrimp. The food is so fresh and cooked wonderfully. The only thing that stopped it being a five star for us - which means beyond perfect- personally, others may disagree, was the sliced beef that we had on the one salad. Don't get me wrong you could tell it was fresh and it was flavorful, but the texture reminded me of cooked roast beef and we had expected in our minds thick sliced beef red in the middle. Again this is not to say it was a bad dish, it wasn't. It just wasn't what we personally expected and again that's personal preference right? That is not to say anything against the owner so when folks read my reviews they know they have to be taken constructively because it's a review based on ONE persons personal preference not a ding against a restaurant. I had the Salmon Power salad and it was fantastic! I added a lot of things in addition to the bacon avocado like mushrooms goat cheese almonds. Had the lime vinaigrette dressing which was phenomenal on this particular salad! The salmon was seasoned and cooked perfectly and you could tell it was so fresh. Loved the artichoke crab dip could not get enough of it and highly highly recommend that! The shrimp, garlic shrimp were seasoned and grilled absolutely perfectly. We definitely recommend this restaurant and will be back without a doubt. I think in hindsight we would have tried the chicken but that's more our fault for not knowing to ask how they served/cooked the beef on the salad. You definitely cannot fault her fresheners or the timely manner in which the food came out. Lots of things to try on the menu. Give them a shot!

Every time I bring my family to OIB, we have ordered from Causeway Gourmet, and every time our experience has been outstanding. This weekend I ordered for 8 people and picked up our food myself. We realized we left without dessert and I called to tell them I was coming to pick it up, but they insisted on driving it out to my beach house free of charge! Everything on the menu is spectacular, and it's obvious that they take pride in great food and service. The very next night we ordered again. FIVE STARS no doubt.

It was ok until we found a hair in one of our plates. When we came in the atmosphere wasn't the most welcoming. Which we figured might be a dive type place. So we sit down and it doesn't seem to be to bad. In fact we all enjoyed the side salads. We got to our main dishes and they were all really good until I looked up and my brother in law was pulling out several strands of hair from his mouth. At that point we lost our appetite. My sunset shrimp pasta was delicious until then. Unfortunately i can't give a higher rating. Maybe we will be back

This is my family's favorite restaurant to visit when we come to Ocean Isle Beach! The food is absolutely amazing and you have the option to dine in or have it delivered to your house or condo. When you do have it delivered, it doesn't taste anything like your typical delivery fare; it is just as wonderful as it is if you visit the restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant and, if you're looking for a menu recommendation, I strongly suggest you pick the Chicken Marsala! It's to die for!

This place is awesome! I love the shrimp avocado salad. All of the ingredients are so fresh and the portion is huge. They have a lot of other delicious looking food but I just have to keep getting the shrimp avocado salad because it's so good. The servers are nice and prompt. I like the decor. It is a little on the small side, so if you are going during peak season you might want to go on off hours. It is worth the wait :)

The service was attentive and helpful. The specials of the day were delicious as was everything else. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. What we got: power salmon salad (the chivre and herb dressing wasn't too heavy and sooo tasty), bbq Texas style brisket sandwich, chicken salad salad, and a turkey avocado wrap. They have a great variety of food sure to please most!! We were pleased that they were open with so many options after the hurricane! Thanks Causeway!

Had a GREAT lunch take out experience at Causeway. The staff was extremely friendly, and everything was delicious. One of the better reubens I've had in a long time & the cuban style sandwich was tasty too! Will certainly return.

It's the only game in town by default. We came back to OIB two years later and nothing has changed. We ordered food from here and it came quick. And ate at their restaurant for lunch. My son loves their chicken Cobb sandwich. The food is good, but then again I feel like they do not have much compeition in the town.
I was hesitant to stop here because a deli wasn't my idea of a food destination on my vacation. This little eatery isn't much in terms of decor or ambiance, but the food is fantastic. I had a cuban sandwich and a delicious slice of Kahlua dessert. My friend ate a shroom sandwich and a piece of chocolate cake. We started off with an appetizer that was a total flavor explosion! It was a flatbread with goat cheese, tomato, pine nuts, and pesto. Wow! This place is great for lunch and you don't have to travel to far from the beach.

Fresh food, clean restaurant, something for everyone, and friendly and attentive staff! Grilled garlic shrimp app and banana pudding did not disappoint. Avo shrimp salad was fresh and satisfying. Large portions for reasonable prices. Great for vegetarians and carnivores alike.

Our first meal here. Actually to go. We read good things about Causeway Gourmet but had not had the time to try them until now. We did not have the patience would be more accurate. We had stopped in a few times before but always left due to the wait time for a take out order. We should have been more patient. Tonight we took our time and were rewarded with an outstanding meal. Despite all the nice things we had read about this restaurant, we were very pleasantly surprised. We had two orders of the Fennel Rubbed Salmon - after confirming the dish was Gluten Free. The salmon was perfectly cooked, crispy from a nice pan sear but juicy on the inside. The white bean stew with prosciutto (and onions) was great as a base for the salmon, the garlic spinach was done just right, and the tomato relish topped it off very well. This is going to be our new go-to restaurant while at OIB. Love finding a great place, even if I'm the last one to do so.

We had a big delivery for our bachelorette party group of 10. The food delivered quicker than expected and it was all correct. Everyone said their food was really good. My only complaint is that my wrap had the paper wrapped completely into it. I essentially had to unwrap my wrap, take the paper out, and then rewrap it. I would definitely go again but I would likely get something different to avoid the hassle.

Tried to order the flounder in lemon caper sauce and was told it's only available for dinner although it was clearly on the menu with no mention of this. There was nothing else on the menu that caught my eye so I just nibbled on what my husband ordered which was crab dip and the southwest shrimp wrap. Unappealing all the way around. We were starving as this was our first meal of the day at 2:00 so we powered through about half of it before our stomachs started yelling STOP!! Left feeling sick and regretful. Two stars because I am morally opposed to giving small businesses anything less. Bottom line: There is nothing gourmet about Causeway Gourmet, at least in my experience.
