Wanted to try this ice cream tonight. Sign on the door said open until 8p but they were closed at 7:40p. I’ll try again and may update this review.
It's 7:41pm and they close at 8pm. Didn't get to any ice-cream. Smh. Everything Downtown Burlington seems to close early.

The icecream was good but the service was horrible. The girl behind the counter was rude and did nothing but complain over everything. She complained over having to make more waffle cones and that the sprinkles were in the wrong place and having to get more whip cream. She asked how many more people we had coming and she sighed when we told her we had a group of 8 and said she needs time to prepare.

Insane price increase since new ownership NOT worth it, especially since the ice cream isn’t as good anymore. Employees were very unwelcoming and unpleasant and were making comments about us our entire visit. Employees mentioned the owner watches them on the camera so they don’t give too many samples and will get mad at them if they do, so that is ridiculous and I would NEVER work for somebody like that. I grew up going here multiple times a week and I will not be back. Too expensive, unpleasant employees, overbearing owners, bad quality ice cream.

What in the world happened to this place..? I’ve been coming here with family for years and it was one of our favorites. Came in tonight (first time since new management) and the place is terrible now.
Prices have doubled, new lighting makes it feel like an operating room, ice cream and cones quality has tanked, employees were rude. Judging on their most recent reviews, everybody else agrees. What a shame.

We went to get ice cream for my son’s birthday, we were with a group of 10 people. The employees weren’t very welcoming at all. I sampled 2 flavors, my 3 kids each had 1 sample & my husband didn’t sample any. When my son asked for a sample, the worker said, “no, you’ve had too many samples.” We were shocked by the response and the employees went on to explain that there is a new owner & he doesn’t like employees giving out a lot of samples. The employees went on to say that in the past employees have got in trouble for giving too many samples out. We were extremely disappointed in the service and walked out without ice cream.

New owners have tanked a Burlington classic. After moving out of state came back excited to bring my daughter to the place a grew up coming to. Unfortunately I was disappointed. Prices have increased and quality just isn't the same. A kiddle cone is $6 and a milk shake that is 3/4 full is $8. Ice cream is fine but no where near the quality it used to be or worth what they are charging. Additionally if what other reviewers are saying is true and gift cards sold earlier in the year are no longer accepted, that borders on criminal. Will. not be back.

BEWARE: UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT PRICE INCREASE NOT HONORING COUPONS
I have been goin to Smitty's for several years now. The new management has increased the prices, lowered the amount of ice cream per scoop, and has chosen not to honor reward points. The service was not bad, but the atmosphere is not the same since the students that used to work there over the summer don't work there anymore. New Smitty's. Beware.

Place is not the same with new management. Vibe is off and smells of cleaning supplies not waffle cones. The guy working is micro managing the scoops because he’s not making the ice cream in house. Doesn’t even want to let you try flavors or honor punch cards. Upped the prices and lowered the experience. I used to come here 1-2 times a week. Definitely won’t be back.

New ownership has tainted this local Burlington institution’s name. Please be aware:
- They won’t honor gift cards sold before April
- Ice cream is 6 dollars for one kiddie scoop
- Ice cream is freezer burnt
- Rumor has it that there are several health code violations including selling expired food
- Poor labor practices, owner threatens to withhold employee’s paychecks
Owner reads reviews and deletes the ones that aren’r favorable. I’ll be amazed if this is kept up.

Went and got an Oreo milkshake. Tasted like just milk no ice cream. When I asked for either a new one or different flavor they refuse even though i spent $8 dollars for basically just a cup of milk.

such a shame. new owners are clearly cutting corners to make a quick buck. no prices on the board, plastic cutlery so cheaply made they literally bent while trying to scoop my ice cream which was freezer burnt (how is that even possible?). No prices on the board and when I asked for something that was literally listed on the board behind them the employees had no clue how to make it. Ended up getting vanilla ice cream on a stale brownie.

This summer take your business to Mapleview and Whit's!While we have always had good service, the prices have really gone up. They also won't honor older gift cards since ownership has changed hands recently (which I just discovered). It's unfortunate since the business didn't change and still has the same name and products.
