Work travels took me to Burlington today so in my sandwich shop search, I remembered seeing this location. It's very easy to order before seating and there is a pick up window that displays your ticket number when your food is ready. I ordered the portobello sandwich and changed the wheat to sourdough. The bread was nice and toasty and I only needed to add a little salt and pepper to the mushrooms. The same with the pasta salad. My only wish that the veggies were a little fuller on the sandwich.

I had high hopes for this place but…..I walk to counter give the older lady my order, upon her giving me my total it was $18…I said for 1/2 sandwich & soup?!? She states “oh I gave you the whole sandwich & soup”. I apologize and said oh I said pick 2 1/2 sandwich & soup pls. Ok no problem….re-rings everything up & im still looking at $15 & some change. Ok fine I don’t mind paying for good food.Food is ready, I got 1/2 box car pita & loaded potato soup. The pita was cold, not toasted & the chicken had zero flavor. The soup was yummy but they forgot my crackers. The turkey sandwich I get from subway is so much better & is only $6. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing?

If you're looking for a great taco salad, Southbound's Tuesday special day is terrific!! Their chili is so good and you get a large portion of everything to satisfy your appetite!!

Although the food appeared adequate I was surprised to get my to go sandwich and find that it was $11.49. I was told the $5.49 price found online was from the old owner. However, the new owner does not have any prices listed on their website. This does not lead to any transparency.

I really enjoyed this place, especially compared with the snobby sandwich place in the same plaza. The food was good, the service was good, and the place was quiet and I could hear myself think. I will return often.

Great service and friendly staff are always a good sign. Combine that with an interesting menu filled with great choices and excellent food and you have a real winner. Southbound was a great choice as we drove through Elon!
