The key west chicken is wonderful. Tender and juicy touch of sweet and grilled to perfection. No where I’ve been has chicken like this. If you like a taste of a sweet glaze get the steamed veggies or broccoli and ask for the Asian sauce to pour on. It is yummy.

I love shrimp and grits and search them out when we are away from home. My husband and I had been to Durham for a medical appointment and I checked for places on our way home that had shrimp and grits. Village Grill seemed like just what we were looking for. We were not there at peak time so maybe that was part of the problem. It was around 3:00 in the afternoon so not lunch and not dinner. We ordered crab dip as an appetizer. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my husband got a steak and mashed potatoes. Our appetizer came out and after a good look and taste we realized that we got pimento cheese dip rather than the crab dip. We didn't see the waitress again for at least 15 minutes so we just ate the pimento cheese dip. Amazingly it was by far the best thing we ate at this meal. The bread and butter was also very good. The dip was a little spicy and my husband drank his tea which unfortunately was during the time our waitress was missing. The shrimp and grits while not the worst I've had was not good. The shrimp was cooked well but that was pretty much all that was in the dish. It supposedly had sausage in the mix but the cuts were so small (about the size of a pencil eraser) I really didn't get the taste of the sausage. The grits were bland. As I said...not the worst I've eaten but not anywhere near the top of the different places I have tried. My husband's steak was more gristle than meat. He had a hard time cutting it and eating it. He said the mashed potatoes were ok. A bit salty but ok. We were so disappointed in our meal because of the great reviews this restaurant has on all the different platforms. Other than her 15 minute disappearance our waitress was a really sweet young lady. I mentioned to her that we got a different appetizer than we ordered and asked if she would make sure we were charged the correct price. Instead they took it off the bill which was really nice but not necessary since we really did enjoy that part of the meal. Everyone we came in contact with was very kind and friendly. The food was just not what we were led to believe in all the great reviews. I hope we were just there at a weird time of day and who knows what else is going on with staffing like it is in most places these days. I would say try it as the majority of people seem to love the restaurant and have had much better experiences than we did. I would go at peak time though just as a precaution.

Last night we took 15 senior adult men and wives who were in town for a softball tournament to the Village Grill for dinner. It was a wonderful experience from the moment we walked in. They really don't take reservations for large groups. Even though they were busy at 6:30, the nice hostess worked with us to seat all 15 close to each other quickly. The waitress taking care of us was amazing. She was constantly checking by to see if we needed and refilling water. Everyone loved their food. Prices were great also! We will definitely be back the next time our tournament is in Burlington.

My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch while driving through the Burlington area headed back home. The staff at the Village Grill were very friendly and our server Karissa was great! Very personable and knowledgeable about the menu items. Service was great and our glasses were always filled. The meal started with warm bread and whipped butter which was nice. My husband started with the She Crab Soup and I ordered the Pimento Cheese with Dirty Chips. Both starters were tasty. The “chips” are crispy potato skins and the pimento cheese was warm and gooey. We both chose the 12oz ribeye with house salads and I had a plain baked potato and my husband had a loaded baked potato. The steaks were small, poorly seasoned and not a good cut in general. Definitely not a $40 steak. Very disappointing. My husband finished the meal with the creme brûlée which he thought was great! Not a bad meal but I probably would order something besides the steak next time.

Order a chicken sandwich and got a mini chicken with a bun. This place has went downhill because rationing don’t even know why I keep coming here. My wife got a grilled chicken plate and the chicken was half the size of her palm.

Food was good. Service was horrible. The waitress was more interested in standing behind the bar talking, then to wait on her tables.

My husband and I went to Village Grill yesterday. Our drinks were served to us in paper cups as the server stated the dishwasher was broken; yet still other customers, before and after us were served their drinks in glasses. We were the only black customers in the restaurant. This was offensive and degrading in this day and age. Even the manger, who confronted us could not explain or defend this appalling action towards us. Needless to say we will never patronize this from of sickness again.

The cajun chicken pasta had a sweetness that I was not expecting and didn't like. There was nothing to balance out the sweetness. The cajun spices weren't enough. I ended up adding red pepper flakes to my dish. The margaritas were light. Service was good. Cute restaurant that feels very homey.

Our first visit here was a success. The place is a little dated for sure. It feels almost like you step back into a howard johnsons or something like that. Great service. The food was just above average, about really tasty. Definitely get the chicken skewers. Those things are amazing.

Friday, 02/14, 6 members of my family ate at the Village Grill for lunch. Our first visit. Three of us got food with included their signature key west chicken. Approximately 30 minutes after eating, we became seriously ill with severe diarrhea and vomiting. It latest approximately 2-3 hours. The other three members of our family did not get sick. We do not recommend this restaurant and will not be eating there again.

Overall nice place. Food wise, salad was good portion for a side and the baked potato was really good and well sized. My issue fell with the steak. Ordered the 14 oz. Strip which was fairly pricey, especially for it being as tough and fatty as it was. I'm a big guy, and it took serious effort to cut it. So the steak itself was not worth it. Got the creme brûlèe and it was ok, half of the ramekin was cold and the other was warm, so slightly off putting.

Again, overall I enjoyed the visit, and will likely visit again if I'm in the area, but definitely will try something different.

Very disappointed in the food. Been a long time customer and have never had such a bad meal. The chicken tenders were so small it looked like a kids meal. The tortilla chips on the salad were not as good as the strips we normally have. We were there early so it had nothing to do with being busy. Matter of fact we were 2 of 4 people there. Don't plan to return.

My wife and I visited on 2/1 for the first and likely last time. We put in our name and two parties that came in after and put in their name got seated before us. These parties were the same size as us. When we got seated we placed our order, and had to wait approximately 30 - 40 minutes for our food to arrive. The party of two that came in after and got seated before sat close to where we were they were finished with their meal and left before we even got our food. To add more we watched another couple come in approximately 15 minutes after us and order after and still get food before us. Their order was very similar to what my wife and I got. Overall, not very impressed and disappointed in the slowness my wife and I were met with compared to others.
