Mount Mitchell Cafe & Eatery

Service was fast, friendly and attentive. The food arrived quickly and was fresh and tasty. They actually had vegetarian options which was great for us non-meat eaters. The prices were as expected, but the portions were perfect. Cobbler, yes please!!! Lots of fruit and a nice scoop of ice cream.

We stopped here after our hike to Mount Mitchell. The overall experience in the beginning seemed to be fine as the restaurant has a nice waiting area with a view.
The only issue we faced as a group was once our food arrived. So we ordered a small soup dish and soup and scoop and we mentioned a small portion size for both of them, but somehow one of the portion was served incorrectly with an even smaller portion size and nothing on sides (essentially your scoop), so we brought this thing to the server’s notice and she reached out to her manager to solve this.

Yes the restaurant was crowded but the way manager dealt with our situation was very condescending and off putting. She kind of bossed around our table and told us to be getting those thing for free “ i am trying to work here” this is what she said, which made things very heated at our table and none of us liked it at all. This is simply very rude behaviour by the main person responsible for the restaurant.

Everything was fine - except for the food... Nice view and kind personnel. But the food didn't taste good, especially the meat from the burger was old and dried out. Non-negotiable and hence the reason for 1 star was that 2 of us got food poisoned ?
I think it was the meat.

If every place was like this, we would eat out every night! Great vibes and views. Excellent, fresh food. Fantastic service! You MUST stop here if you're going to the State Park or even just along the Blue Ridge!

Excellent food. Got take out so I could sit outside with my dog (not allowed in restaurant and no outdoor seating). Food came out fresh and hot after only 2 min. Got 6684 burger which was a large portion and well cooked. Potato salad and fruit cup sides. Well above average for both. This isn't a half-axe fruit cup like you'd get at a chain restaurant. Also got cheddar and broccoli soup which came with home made potato chips. 100% will eat here again. Note that if you come for the view, the mountain top is socked in with clouds often, so hopefully you come on a rare, totally clear day.

Needs much improvement. French fries were served cold and the club sandwich was mediocre. The service was good, however. To be fair they are still getting their business up and running.

Steven was a wonderful waiter. Food was delicious. Sat by a window and looked out to the mountains.
