I love me some black bear cafe, I just wish they were better at answering their phone so I don't have to go there to place my togo order and wait for it to be prepared.

I just tried calling but was sent to voicemail, though I did leave a message! My son just got back from ordering our dinner where I requested the Turkey and dressing. This is so horrific I've had to do without dinner! The dressing is burnt and dry...what little turkey I received is dry and not an ounce of gravy anywhere...and where the heck are my sweet potatoes?? I paid over $12 for this?? I am horribly upset that, not only did I not get a proper dinner, but I'm having to do without dinner altogether! I hope you are happy with ruining my evening and taking my money. Nancy Sanders-Lowery

The food was excellent. The family atmosphere makes me feel like when I was a kid and helped on my family restaurant in Puerto Rico.

And I don't give all 5* ratings ever.... this place is awesome. The only drawback is the place is generally packed... but for good reason... and the fact that my walk in take order only took 10 minutes is crazy!!!

Best pulled pork I’ve ever had and the first time trying okra, but it wasn’t bad. Service was excellent and very friendly. Definitely a hidden gem.
I usually order to go when I am too lazy to make a home-cooked meal. The food is good, generous, and well worth the price. I like different restaurants for different reasons. This falls into my "guilty pleasures/greasy spoon" category of restaurant, not because its a dive but because it is simple, decent, southern comfort style food. Don't go for Michelin Star or for fusion foods, but when you want something comforting like grandma would have made it. I give it a 5 star rating not just for its food, but the heart and spirit of the owners and employees. I have seen from behind the scenes, more than once, how this restaurant helps people and the community-for example with food for flood victims and fundraisers for local schools. Their compassion alone makes it a business worth supporting, the tasty fried country steaks, okra, rolls and desert are just the icing on the cake.
