The food was very delicious! The stake I ordered was cooked to perfection!
Food and service was top notch. Would visit again.
Quite possibly the worst place in Haywood County to eat very slow service with the wait staff and also kitchen
Super cute place, our server Merle was awesome, and the food was tasty. Knocking off a star because this restaurant fries everything in (edit) soybean oil (which is just as bad as canola) and I wish they would switch to a healthier fat!
Saturday June 7th 2025 we were attending an after Wedding Dinner Party at the Southern Porch. Including our nephew and his lovely new wife, we numbered 32. Unfortunately, it wasn’t long before realizing we had been assigned only one waitress. After nearly an hour, family members spoke to the ownership. It was nearly an hour later before help in the form of another waitress arrived. The restaurant set and was given the time required to accommodate the event. I found the experience disappointing. I was also embarrassed for the family footing the bill, the newly married couple, their family members and quests. Additionally, the entire poorly staffing issue was distasteful. I do not recommend large party reservations to anyone considering having their events here. My suggestion to the restaurant owner is to discontinue their advertisement highlighting their ability to accommodate large dining parties. Obviously, they are not.
We came here from Massachusetts and wanted true southern food. It was great! Bruce had the meatloaf and said it was the best he has ever had. I had the pot roast and it was great!
Visiting from Alabama , looked up nearby restaurants and I’m soo happy we chose to come here ! Everything was amazing and great size portions ! Cloey was the best waitress I’ve probably ever had anywhere . I definitely recommend to any and everyone from fancy date night to casual !
Great place 5 🌟. Great staff, and awesome owners.
Our waitress Maddie was amazing! She was very friendly and on point! The food was fantastic! We will definitely be back soon!

This place honestly sucks, hosts seem confused and annoyed. Service is terrible, and on top of that theres an automatic 20% tip added to your check so you basically get to pay for the worst service you could get, oh and the food is overpriced for the quality.

I rarely leave a restaurant review, but I have to after eating lunch at Southern Porch. The exterior is beautiful, but the interior has been forgotten, with very little care for the history of the building. The hostess area, as you walk in, is appropriate with some historical pictures and items displayed. The bar area is appropriate. However, walking past this is nothing - No pictures, no plants, no decoration whatsoever! I asked our waitress about this, thinking maybe they were repainting or something. She said the owner wouldn't let them nail anything on the walls!!! Look, there's a lot of things you can do without nails!...plants, sculpture, what about a big artificial tree decorated for each season with the "Queen Anne" historical aspects? What about white table clothes in the main dining room? Remove that awful, out of the historical period, dark paneling on the wall! It' just awful to walk into what should be a gorgeous atmosphere and see it so unloved. We won't go back....

Excellent local restaurant in quaint downtown Canton with free public parking lot right across the street. Located in an old Victorian style hotel, the restaurant has tons of character and charm. The menu is extensive, with something for everyone. While I typically am not a fan of what I call “New South” restaurants, this one is an exception. Pimento cheese graces many dishes, and there are interesting “updated” forms of classic Southern favorites, but they are not over done. Even more surprisingly, they are not overpriced! A drawback is the wait time. Service was a bit slow, but very friendly & helpful. Full bar with knowledgeable tender. Very nice restrooms. I had the BBQ Grilled Cheese, which was rather rich, but not too spicy. I did have to use a fork and knife to eat it, however. My husband had the Meatloaf, which was very unique and tasty. Fried okra was crispier than most places, which is to my taste. Beautiful patio and porch seating. I definitely plan to be back to try some of the other menu items.
Parking: Free parking lot across the street and along the street
Wheelchair accessibility: Great handicap parking right out front, but it will be hard to get in the restaurant. Patio seating is much more accessible.

This place came highly recommended, and it was good! For 3 people, we were there nearly 2.5 hours, so plan your evening. I had the meatloaf, and it was good, fresh, had good flavor, and was different from anywhere else I have ever been. Family members shared the club sandwich, which was huge, and said it was great. There were several other things on the menu that I would like to come back to try. Prices were very reasonable.

Super slow service. To be fair we were a large group and only had a single waitress (I assume they are short staffed). Food came out sporadically and the kids food didn't come out at anything close to a reasonable pace. Food tasted great in general, but some was cold due to the timing.
Kid-friendliness: Not great. Not bad.
