The food was fabulous- our group had the seared yellow fin special which was outstanding and the scallops and seafood linguine. The service was friendly and attentive (but not TOO attentive). Great location in the heart of downtown Cary - highly recommend.
Excellent meal and an even better service! Both the owner and the staff were very welcoming and attentive. Will definitely be back.
The synopsis is: “They serve Boomer Food”.
If you are a Boomer, this is your food. You will like this place.
If you are a millennial or Gen X who is into more elevated food and you try it you’ll understand what I mean. You will find the food super basic and dated. It’s also pricey for what it is. My meal was $38 for a few carrots, mashed potatoes, and some shepherds pie meat. Was a decent meal, but way too basic and simple to justify the price.
My wife salad first tipped me off.. was full of crazins and had a classic boomer type vinaigrette (again, you just know it when you see/eat it).
The staff was nice, and the location was really nice. We love the patio and were super excited to eat, and people watch.
I guess we just thought something in downtown Cary would be more exciting and up to date. That’s some ultra prime real estate, and the food just isn’t what younger generations want to eat.
Omg I went for the Short Ribs and they were to die for. I didn't even get a picture. I would go there anyway! Quincy was amazing and I really had a good time!
I cannot abide being ignored by wait staff in an empty restaurant. After being passed over repeatedly by our wait person, we left.
Academy Street Bistro is a gem that’s perfect for a couples’ night out. The ambiance strikes a beautiful balance between upscale and cozy, making it ideal for a special evening. The cocktail menu is fantastic....creative, well-balanced and expertly crafted.
For starters, the calamari stood out with its perfect crisp and flavor, setting the tone for a great meal. The entrees were equally impressive.. both the filet and the Milanese were cooked to perfection, showcasing the kitchen’s skill. But the true star of the evening was the braised short rib....tender, rich, and bursting with deep, comforting flavor.
From the food to the atmosphere and attentive service, Academy Street Bistro delivered an experience that felt both indulgent and inviting. Highly recommended for a date night or any occasion where you want to enjoy exceptional food in great company.
All dishes were exceptionally good. Loved the New York Strip and Short Ribs (separate). Very friendly staff too.
Great place for a work dinner.
Amazing food and Adrian was great!
Service could not have been better, every staff person welcomed us and made sure we had a great experience. The food was excellent and exceeded expectations. Restaurant was loud and tables are pretty close together.

I sat at the bar and ordered a couple of appetizers but the bread was the true winner. Food was well balance but the pork belly was alittle over cooked and dry but tasty.

The food I personally had was mediocre. Brussels seemed a little under done, but great flavor. The Brie was burnt visibly and you tasted black char under the rasp preserves. The firecracker shrimp was a bit overdone/tough, but good sauce on them once you got past that. The white bean and beef soup had great flavor, but bean heavy and slightly undercooked beans as well. Maybe just an off evening and just those dishes? My friends grouper special she loved. Others had risotto, tuna and Burrata with no complaints or special acknowledgements so that’s fine.
Part of my rating is due to the inability for anyone at my table to hear one another in the booth due to the large party being so incredibly loud in the dining room. We were a group of 6 and couldn’t move outside in the humidity and drizzle, nor the bar side. The smaller groups did move to the bar area to get away. We didn’t stay for planned dessert due to the incredibly loud room. I do realize the staff can do little about this if the party themselves is ignorant to their disturbance. But when asking about my experience, it’s in there.
The service was very good. The speed of food delivery and interaction with staff was all great. The drinks were good and everyone attentive. Our server understood our pain and apologized at the end. We cut the evening short ultimately and that stinks.

Went here during tge art show. Very limited menu items. Good, not earth shattering roastbeef sandwich. Nice place, but service was lacking as other servers had to fill our drinks and tend to our bill.

We visited Academy Street Bistro for our anniversary and were not disappointed. The Pandemic ruined so many restaurants that they lost the ability to cook. This certainly is not the case with ASB. We ordered pork belly, duck breast, oysters, and a fish special. The chefs created excellent dishes with plays on sweetness and tartness, texture, and looks, executed well - a wonderful experience. Affogato, however, fell short of expectations and was as far away from our affogato in Italy as possible.
