We were in DC and wanted to pick up some Sambusa and discovered Habesha market.\n\nRestaurant with a mini market where you can pick up some spices, breads & injera. Also, have a prepped food area where you can get combo orders-various types of Wot with veggies that are ready to take away. \n\nThe Beef Sambusa had a perfectly seasoned filling. We got one of the the Veggie to try and it was ok. \n\nWe ended up picking up some Kitfo which was excellent! Perfect amount of seasoning...
I've eaten here many times. I recently went after being in town with my family and it is still as good as it always is. When speaking to people about where they go for authentic food Habesha almost always comes up.\n\nThere is a wide variety on the menu but I have a method that works for me.\nI typically will order one of the vegetarian combo platters (I am not vegetarian but there is a good selection and the food is excellent). I will then order additional meat dishes specifically...
They make Ethiopian food so well here!! The portions are large and fresh. They also have lunch specials at great prices. I love all their dishes, but my favourites are: Kitfo and Dereq Tibs.
