We sent for a Birthday celebration on a Monday night. We were the only couple in there for a few hours. Everything they brought to our table was FANTASTIC!!

Some truly fantastic bites. The vermicelli noodles were insane. Will definitely be coming back soon

We really wanted to try this place but unfortunately our expectations were not met. It was later in the evening when we went and there was only a few tables. It took us more than 2 hours to receive and finish our dinner. The kitchen is open and you can see the two guys cooking were joking around moving at a snails pace. I told them I could not have gluten or soy in my good and it was present. Our server was excellent and the place is beautiful but this is not the level of a meal we would expect for the price we paid. We will not return

This place was amazing! Would recommend reservations as it fills up quickly. It was our first time here as a date for a birthday. Our waitress, Anna (I think) was very informative and wonderful as well as anyone else we encountered. Would definitely recommend!

Exquisite izakaya restaurant, best in Raleigh. All dishes were superbly prepared, with attention to detail and consistent flavor. Service immaculate, attentive and with humility and confidence.

We’ve been to M Test Kitchen a few times and were curious about what was different. The menu seems larger and it was nice that it now offers some sushi items. The wagyu bbq is one of our favorites from M Sushi, and it was nice to enjoy that too.

The restaurant is really cute and service was good, but the food this time strangely missed the mark. We ordered the corn ribs, which were so overwhelmingly sour that we couldn’t finish the dish. We also ordered the Szechuan pork belly, which instead of being spicy or flavorful, felt just like a salt bomb. These two dishes were really difficult to have together as it felt just like the flavors were too intense and not well considered at all.

We also asked for a bowl of white rice during the meal and were told that they were told out of it for the day. We understood when they ran out of other dishes, but in this kind of restaurant, how do you run out of white rice? It was also not particularly late in the evening and felt like poor planning.

While the nigiri we got and wagyu was reliably good, the other dishes were very disappointing after our past times here at the Test Kitchen. Not sure if I would return after this experience with the price point and quality of the food.

We had a wonderful date night at M Izakaya! The menu is inventive and delicious! The small space lends to a cozy ambiance. Will definitely be back in the near future! Highly recommend!

We love M Sushi and have been to M Test Kitchen but our first experience at M Izakaya was disappointing. They were out of many dishes early in the dinner service (including sides of white rice which we found to be really unbelievable), and two out of the three dishes we got were overwhelmingly salty and sour. It was really disappointing at the price point and I felt like I had to drink a lot water after eating these dishes.

What a treat. Of the 5 dishes we ate, four were absolutely spectactular - terrific blends of popping flavors. The ocean trout was done very well, but the fish itself was meh. Drinks were top-notch as well. Just a really fun and tasty evening!

Had a very enjoyable dinner at M Isakaya. More casual than M Sushi in Durham, but a solid offering. In particular enjoyed the build-yourself pork jowl bao buns and the nigiri options were each a tasty bite.

We thought we were having dinner at M Sushi, but instead booked a reservation at M Izakaya....Turned out our mistake was for the best! Christina, was our server, and really was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable about the different Sakes, as well as all the food when we asked for suggestions. We started with blue fin tuna and yellow tail nigiri. Definitely try the tuna! Second course was a scallop dish, plus KFC(Korean style chicken) wings which were excellent! Had the sea bass dish which was also amazing! Ordered one more round of wings and we were good for 2 people. If you dine here, definitely ask for Chistina if you want excellent service. Highly recommend this place and we will be back!

Flavorful food! It was prepared in a diverse izakaya style, and overall it was pretty good. However, there was an inconvenience with the high bar tables there was no place to hang bags or any bag storage, so we had no choice but to deal with that while sitting there.

I enjoyed the experience of having the best server ever. Christina provided excellent service and guided me through trying different sake and authentic Japanese cuisine. I'm looking forward to indulging at M Izakaya again, but only if Christina is my designated server.
