We heard this place was good but we had a different experience. The dishes are oddly composed. One other reviewer said the sauce on his kung pao chicken was the same as at every other Chinese restaurant. I beg to differ. The sauce on my kung pao chicken was a sweet sauce. I'm pushing 70 years old and have lived most of my life in the Chicago area, and Chinese food is right up there with my favorites, so I've eaten a lot of it. I have never had a sweet sauce on kung pao chicken. So that was unexpected and unwelcomed, especially for me since I've never liked sweet sauces or sweet/sour sauces. Furthermore, contrary to my past experience, there unfortunately were no vegetables whatsoever in my kung pao chicken. My wife had a pork rib dish in which the meat was tough and largely inedible, and again, no vegetables at all. Based on this visit to Taipei 101, I wouldn't recommend it.

I've enjoyed this restaurant, the food is pretty good and the service is good. Sometimes the wait is terrible, but if you get there a bit off peak, it's worth the time.

I know Chinese food being from New York. I ate many times in Chinatown and in Manhattan, can’t get better food than that. I haven’t had good Chinese food in the last 25 years after moving to Raleigh & came to find Taipei restaurant since it’s near Di Farro’s pizzeria. The menu looked great. I was waited on immediately, the food came out, and I was so disappointed when I tasted everything. I ordered the pork purses, unfortunately it had no flavor even the dipping sauce just tasted less than Food Lion beef broth quality no spices in the pork meat. The dough was too chewy, as if it wasn’t fresh, the orange chicken and fried rice was just white rice with soy sauce no flavor the chicken again no flavor no spice it’s supposed to be spicy and way overcooked, I could’ve broken a tooth on It very very dry. No orange sauce at all. I didn’t bother trying the wonton soup. I just threw that out as all other food was inedible. that everything else was so horrible. My dogs ante the chicken. If you want decent Asian food, one of the few places you can go is in North Raleigh to sake house their food is very flavorful and everything is fresh.

Taipei 101 definitely feels stuck in time, and the decor and tables could use a serious update. The food is just okay, nothing to rave about, but the prices are affordable. It gets really crowded, especially with takeout orders flying out the door, which slows things down if you’re dining in. Not the place for ambiance or top-notch food, but it’s popular for a reason: cheap eats and big portions.

Having been to Taiwan, Taipei 101 serves authentic, delicious food. The beef noodle soup reminds me of the ones they serve in Taipei.

For this review, I came in around 4pm and it was pretty empty and it looks like they were prepping for a big order. Service was fast and people were nice. Great spot for authentic Taiwanese food!

This was a delight! The food was great. Our food was freshly made and came to the table quickly! Everyone was very personable! First time here but we will come back when in Cary!

Went here on a recommendation from a friend. I may have went on an off-night but the chicken I ordered was incredibly chewy and honestly not enjoyable to eat at all. I’m not a picky eater, but this is easily the worst Asian food I’ve ever had. The pot stickers had a nice flavor but were a bit dough-ey on the inside….essentially nothing came out right. I’m not the type to review good or bad often, but I would recommend going elsewhere.

Some of the best food the triangle has to offer. Amazing Szechuan style Chinese that’s family style. The griddle chicken, mapo tofu, spicy fish, and twice cooked pork are elite and I could eat it everyday if I had the money too. Heck, even the white rice is tastier than the food at many other places.

Finding a parking space is a problem! There isn't much parking and when we went, it was basically full. The food was okay, the crab rangoons were the best of the meal, egg rolls were good, also the mango chicken (which could've used more mango). Servings were big, service was pretty good as they were busy.

Taipei 101, named after a 101-story skyscraper that was once the tallest building in the world in Taipei, Taiwan, is a consistent, authentic, and affordable Chinese food option in the Triangle and always worth the drive from Raleigh. We've gone back many times between us. The best thing to get is the “griddle chicken with vegetables” which despite its uneventful name is the miraculous skillet full of perfectly grilled chicken, lotus root, onion and maybe a few other vegetables. Wow, this dish stuns with a balanced spice element that, at least in this part of the world, is unique. It’s shareable but also excellent as leftovers. Other fantastic dishes include the fried spicy fish which is just a lightly battered, fried white fish freckled in Szechuan pepper flakes. Served hot and crispy, the melt-in-your-mouth fish finishes with the spice that opens your whole maw, leaving you flush and satisfied, alive and invigorated but oh-so-comfortable. Even this dish is strangely good as leftovers on a bowl of rice. Also must-orders:  the hand-made xio long bao (soup dumplings AKA “pillows of happiness” as Bourdain once called them), scallion-roasted beef pancake roll which is a thick, folded pastry stuffed with thick cuts of steak and herby veg, and whatever green vegetables with garlic (I love when the snow pea shoots are available), the beef chow fun with healthy pieces of steak and well-seasoned flat noodles that aren’t over-sauced or dripping in sodium. They serve a couple of beers, wines, and sakes too if you need a cold Tsingtao to wash it all down. No-frills basic restaurant with booths and tables inside, and if you’re lucky you can find parking in the lot outside. Hit up Geluna gelato across the parking lot when you’re done and check out the vinyl a couple doors down at Hunky Dory!

Really good food and a pretty neat restaurant. I got the chicken grilled plate and it was so good. I also got a beer and the soup buns. Everything was so good and the staff was really kind and had good service. The bathroom could have been cleaner.

Way too busy and expensive for the taste of the food. We were looking forward to trying lotus root but it had so much ginger flavor could hardly eat it.
