I had a horrifying experience on Friday. As soon as I sat down, I noticed a cockroach walking on the table, right between the water glasses. I immediately showed it to the staff. Instead of properly checking or cleaning the area, he casually pretended to “catch” it with a napkin and said, “No worries, it’s gone,” without even looking. I turned on my phone’s flashlight and showed him the cockroach still there, and only then he caught it.

What shocked me even more was that no one offered to change my table or sanitize the area. I had to ask them myself to move me. Then a staff member tried to bring the same water glasses from the contaminated table to my new table. I refused and asked for clean ones.

I kept watching, and the person simply threw the cockroach into a trash bin right in the small dining area instead of following proper hygiene procedures.

On top of that, someone from the kitchen was coughing loudly and continuously—the kind of cough that clearly isn’t covered by a hand or mask. It was extremely uncomfortable and unhygienic.

I ordered Medu Vada, and it was terrible. I was starving, so I somehow forced myself to eat one vada just so my sugar levels wouldn’t drop, and then I left immediately.

Overall, the experience was traumatizing, and I will never go back there again.

Very friendly staff made us feel very welcome. The food is great. Everything was fresh and hot when it arrived at the table. The dosas are thin, crispy, and flavorful. This is South Indian cuisine at its best.

The Mysore Masala Dosa was nice, though not excellent. Since it’s a South Indian restaurant, I didn’t expect North Indian–style dishes to be their specialty, but we went during late lunch hours and felt like having naan and curry. Both were a bit disappointing. The naan tasted like one of those frozen packet ones, even though the staff said it was freshly made, and the curry was just okay. Also, $4.99 for two small pieces of naan felt a bit pricey. The South Indian items might be better, so I’d recommend sticking to those.

Mediocre food. There were roaches in the dining room. Service was also subpar. This place has really declined.

I want to be completely honest in my review. For someone who hasn't been to Udupi and tried their food, this place might seem good, but I feel the quality is lacking. They could definitely improve both the quality and taste of their dishes. The Mysore dosa was decent, the puri was good, but the chole was just okay.
