I've never had a bad experience at Ava's. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Their vegan cupcakes are great! I've gotten the gluten free ones for coworkers and have gotten great reviews from them and my son absolutely loved the smores flavor cupcake they have! Never had a bad flavor. We go there on average about once a month to get cupcakes for family birthdays and celebrations.

Because of the color of my Black skin, I want to be clear that it should never be a factor in how I am treated as a paying customer. Regardless of how good a product may be, it is not worth spending money where customer service lacks basic courtesy and respect.
I recently visited during a bread sale and felt uncomfortable due to the lack of acknowledgment I received. While other customers were greeted warmly, I was neither welcomed nor shown the same courtesy. It was like I was invisible to them. At first, I assumed it may have been an oversight, especially since previous visits were pleasant and the other staff members have consistently been kind and professional.
However, when I returned to give the establishment another opportunity, I experienced the same dismissive behavior from the same individual—who is identified on the company’s website, with her photo displayed, as the owner of the bakery. She came from the back, did not greet me, and her demeanor made me feel as though I did not belong in her store. That treatment, especially coming from the owner, was extremely disappointing considering her hired help is extremely nice.
As a loyal customer who has willingly driven 40 minutes and spent $20–$40 per visit on a regular basis, this experience was both disheartening and unacceptable. Every customer deserves to be acknowledged and treated with respect, regardless of the color of their skin. While I genuinely enjoy the products, professionalism and inclusivity matter just as much. For that reason, I have decided to take my business elsewhere.

My family and I have been buying from Ava’s for years. They’re a staple for our birthdays and graduations, and they made beautiful cupcakes for my wedding too. Our go-tos are the red velvet cupcakes and anything pistachio!

We frequent Ava's since they are one of the few bakeries locally that sell gluten-free cupcakes. Most of the cupcakes I've had from here have been nothing short of delicious. They taste like homemade cupcakes, but better! The gluten-free selection is fairly decent -- I do wish there was a bigger selection (like carrot cake *hint hint*).
The rest of my family is not gluten-free, and have enjoyed everything they have tried so far. I hope they will have a gluten-free pumpkin spiced cupcake in the fall!!!
