My husband and I came in on Saturday, Nov 30, 2024 after driving down from Virginia. We were passing through town and decided to grab a late lunch/early dinner.

Food: My husband had the Mushroom Swiss Burger and a bowl of applesauce. The burger was cooked nicely, but had no seasoning on it. The only flavor came from the Swiss Cheese and grilled mushrooms. The applesauce was tasty, despite the waitress saying it was from a can. I ordered the 10oz Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy. My sides were the fries and applesauce. The Hamburger Steak was so bland, no seasoning of any kind, the only flavor coming from the grilled onions (the tastiest thing on the entire plate) and the huge puddle of brown gravy (tasted like the salty packet mix from the grocery store). The fries were well cooked, but had again no seasoning whatsoever and were dumped onto the plate where they became soggy from sitting in the gravy. The roll that came with my plate was just a King's Hawaiian. My husband got us each a slice of the chocolate pie and it was the Marie Callender's Frozen Chocolate Silk Pie, but the most flavorful thing we got. Overall the food is bland and tastes very much like it was served in a cafeteria, not a small local restaurant.

Atmosphere: When we walked in, we were told to sit anywhere (warning: the booth we sat in marked number 3, was incredibly uncomfortable, with a hard edge pressing up and into the back of my thighs). We switched to a table and chairs and that was much better. There was also a full pack of cigarettes on the floor, although everything seemed very clean, so I assume a previous customer must have just dropped them. The restaurant was clean, and the decor is cute antiques. It has a cozy feel without being crushing. At the time that we arrived, there were no other customers inside. The restroom was exceptionally clean and the staff members building the Christmas tree were very friendly.

Service: Our server was polite and seemed friendly, although she didn't appear more than twice after we got our food and that was was to bring us the pie and bring the check. There was a woman who I assumed worked in the kitchen because of the hairnet that came up front and asked how our meal was. When I mentioned that the food was very bland, she shrugged and said that's how the restaurant business cooks food. I was very startled since I've never had such unseasoned food at any restaurant before this.

Overall: Bland, unseasoned, cafeteria-style food, store-bought rolls and frozen pie. Decent, if distant, service, but in a cute, clean atmosphere. We'll consider trying it again the next time we visit town, but no promises. I hate leaving less than 4 stars for local businesses!

Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp to get in and accessible restroom!

Great food, friendly service! Reasonable prices. I highly recommend this if you are stopping by on your way through town, or you are a local. Well worth the time. Very tasty food, the fried catfish was done perfectly! Not too much breading and moist but not greasy. Very well done! Shrimp po-boy was very generous.

Had the Catfish basket. It was amazing. Worth the drive from Plymouth.

We've added Columbia Crossing to our list of favorite local eateries! The menu is varied (including several items on the kids' section), and we had amazing burgers on our first trip. The staff is efficient and friendly. We're planning our next visit soon!

Got told to sit in the back room. Two of us did as told. Ten people sat after us. Waitress walked past us to wait on big table. Told us she’d be back. Suggestion: Have the hostess seat customers in the back room and tell waitress who is next! Not that difficult! Usually standard procedure! Lost us as customers. Didn’t want to wait!

Reuben sandwich was good but could have used a little more thousand Island dressing. Cheese steak was good but needed a little more cheese. But food was good. I have confidence they will continue to improve. Friendly atmosphere. I will be back

This is a great place to stop in on the way to or from the beach. Very friendly. I have had Reubens with more meat piled on, but they would have to charge more, and I would have had to deal with leftovers.

Wheelchair accessibility: While nobody was parked in the handicapped parking, there were customers in wheelchairs.

BE ADVISED: This place has recently reopened after being closed for a few years, I assume under new ownership. Older reviews like mine are no longer relevant.

Our group of 4 came here after paddling the Scuppernong river from Creswell. If you like fried seafood, this is the place go. Sweet potato fries=awesome! Service was fairly quick and waitress checked on us regularly. Prices are quite reasonable. Would have given 5 stars, but no draft beer and very limited selection of bottles, mostly watered down American style lager. Be warned: this is the only local, sit-down restaurant right on the highway between the OBX and Plymouth. On Saturdays in the summer, it can get loaded with tourists heading back to the Triangle from their beach week. Also, they charge an extra fee for credit cards, so bring cash.
