Food was wonderful service awesome. My grandson works there!!! Parking: Parking was in the lot next to brewery. I can see that much additional parking will get needed bc of the atmosphere and food menu. Hopefully next time we can park closer. You have 10 stars from me otherwise!!! ❤️

Egg rolls were meh. It is a cool little place to visit on the weekend. I would like to try their burger next time I visit, which I definitely will. Not a bad motorcycle ride from Spartanburg. They have plenty of outside seating for nice days. Bring friends!

Beer and atmosphere are very nice.Food lives up to what this establishment used to be. A jailhouse.

Excellent food and service. My girlfriend has dietary restrictions and our server had everything taken care of. Keep a reasonable check on us as we dined and made sure everything was top notch. We have decided to have our Valentines Day meal here!

We busted the iron key on a Saturday night. It wasn't too busy so we were seated immediately and the hostess informed us it would be at least a 45 minute wait for food, which we were ok with. The waitress came by pretty promptly after and we put in our food with out drinks. I had a beer flight and my husband had a couple of porters all of which were pretty good. We literally did not see our waitress again after she delivered the beers until after we got our meals. Remember it's a 45 minute wait for food. We had put in an order of wings which came at the 45 minute mark. They were delicious and honestly the only reason I didn't give one star. We waited about another 25-30 minutes and got our meals a patty melt and fish and chips. The patty melt was just a plain sandwich. I will say it's nice that they have options for he cheese you can add on. For a side we had Mac and cheese, also pretty meh. The fish and chips were not good. Fries were ice cold and the fish was clearly cooked in old grease it was DARK and salty. The tartar sauce they serve it with tasted spoiled and I didn't even bother to try the slaw. I would say when you wait a long time for food, expected or not, the food should definitely be good. This was not the case here. Would certainly recommend the wings but otherwise no thanks.

If you're thinking of stopping by this brewery for food, drink or anything in between... do it! The service was god speed. If this were really jail,I'd commit a crime a day. Started with a couple beer flights and their cheese curds and it couldn't have come out better, cheese curds were crispy and perfect with southwest ranch. Then came the beer cheese pretzel which may have somehow outshone the cheese curds. The beer cheese was among the best we've ever had and the pretzel itself had a perfect salt to pretzel ratio and consistency. Going into the main we were feeling a little full, but after seeing the pulled pork sandwich and crispy skinny fries I found some more room. The Carolina gold sauce and Cole slaw on my pork sandwich left no room for question it was outstanding. The fries just disappear in your mouth with a nice tasty crunch!

I brought a group of family and friends to Iron Key for a birthday celebration from the northern Spartanburg area. We were looking for something fun and different. Searching the internet, I stumbled across this former prison turned into brewery that was only a 20 minute drive for us. We had never been here before, but it did not take us long to feel like we had made a great decision! Loved the tour, the beer, the food, the atmosphere, but most of all, the owners and staff treated us with genuine friendliness and care! Also, we loved the way they embraced the history of the building and property. I wish future success for this establishment as they work on their growth plan. We will be back!

We were planning to come here for a potential event, but was of course a hoax (you know how Facebook stuff goes). After reaching out to Dave and Andrea about other plans they were so gracious in setting up a tour and saving us a table for our birthday celebration. This is definitely an awesome place if you like historical things and great craft beer! We will be coming back for sure!

Sat outside on the back patio as we had our dog. Service was superb. Friendly staff, very attentive. They immediately brought a water bowl (with ice!). Ordered a cup of loaded potato soup (of the day), the gyro lunch special with their house cut onion rings and we also tried the fish sandwich and fries. All were delicious! The history of the state prison is quite interesting and the knowledgeable staff shared some stories as my husband walked around the former prison yard. Had several different beers on this visit and all were very tasty! Nice selection so we will have to come back and try a few more.

What a neat place. I loved the whole place inside and out. An old prison ... how neat!!The service was great, along with the food and beverages, a very winning combination.I definitely wish I lived closer. I would make it a regular stop! Would love to go back.

I want to give this place another chance because I love supporting local breweries whenever visiting somewhere. I will start by saying the owner is great and you can clearly tell he cares by the level of service and hustle he has to keep things moving smoothly. We stopped by around the holidays when many restaurants were closed so Iron Key was understandably busy. We had to wait quite sometime for our food and our server was not super attentive. The owner on the other hand was checking in and checking on our food for us. The menu I would say is rather limited and does not include many vegetarian friendly options outside of salads and a veggie burger option which was disappointing. Although I underestimated how excited I would be to see pimento cheese on the menu one reason I miss the south. I think it would be worth another shot but maybe for apps and beer next time.
