Frels on Rock

In 2018 Yonder Luxury Vacation Rentals expanded to the Tryon, NC area with our business. That expansion included learning about all the restaurants in the area, and of course, visiting and trying them all out. Since our first visit that year, Mountain View BBQ has been a favorite of our team, and a part of our referral list for our Yonder guests. In that light I am a little embarrassed that I neglected to post a glowing review until now. (Apologies Mt View family!)
Our favorites have always been the brisket and pulled chicken, along with the wide array of side dish choices. So those are our go-to almost every time. Living in Asheville/WNC, we have a wide array of BBQ choices, and for a long time, (since they opened), my favorite ribs, hands-down, has always been 12-Bones. However, this week, for the first time, I decided to order the ribs at Mountain View. Suffice to say, OMG!!!!
I now have a new ribs favorite in WNC!! The ribs are not dressed in any sauce, which I was concerned about, but they are so well slow-cooked, tender and juicy, to the point that they melt off the bone! You can get your choice of 4 BBQ sauces, so adding the flavor you desire is easy and it works!
I encourage anyone in the Tryon, NC area to stop in to Mountain View BBQ. It is a small, family owned business, with friendly and quick service. You will love anything you order, and you will absolutely want to come back!
Come see for yourself and enjoy some real southern BBQ done right!!

2:30 on 8/30th ordered 30 wings consisting of 10 hot wings, 10 plum wings and 10 lemon pepper wings. Got home and the wings were not done, red at the bone and dry with very little sauce. Ordered beef brisket and it looks as though I got the straps, burnt edges and crumbs. Ordered green fried tomatoes and they were not done. Also, ordered an extra order of hush puppies that were not freshly cooked. Spent over 60.00 there and the food was horrible. The food was awful! I am very dissatisfied with the food that I received and the money that was spent. They have loss a long time customer because of this and I will never be back.

Food was amazing. Had the one meat burnt ends with potato salad and sweet potato fries. All very good and massive portion of meat. Great place to eat if you’re in Tryon. Would eat here again next time I am in town.

My husband have ate here several times however this is first review. We both got the full rack of ribs. (We got a full rack to have leftovers the next day)This comes with 2 sides each and a drink. The ribs are st.louis style. They were the most meatiest, tender ribs i have ever had. Simply the best. Well worth the money .

We put in to maps “food near me”. This came up so we decided to give it a try. It was the best decision we made. The service was great, food came out very quickly and the food was fantastic. Everything. And the hush puppies were the best I’ve ever had. We will be back.

Got the brisket tacos at the food truck at Highland Brewery. Service was fast and friendly. Tacos were great! The shell was very unique and tasty (I normally think taco shells are boring). Suggest you drain the picp de gallo as there was a lot of juice at the bottom of my tacos or maybe put in a side cup? Also they were leaning over so much the toppings of one fell out and made it hard to eat.

2st time here. 6-14-25 5:30pm. Girl at register is not very friendly. The sides were in terribly small cups at 3.50 each. Brisket sandwich was very dry but came out hot. Asked for mayo and same girl tossed a mayo packet on the table and walked away. Baked beans were tough, hard beans. Bland. The potato salad was good. The slaw was dry and needed a vinegar and mayo sauce. The sliced brisket was also very dry. Tasye was bland. Greasy hushpuppies. Burnt ends were just good but was more moist than the sliced brisket and were very fatty. Sauces were okay but liked the vinegar sauce better. Total with two tea's came to almost 50.00. Not including the tip. I only ate a third ofy sandwich. Left more fat on brisket plate and only half was ate. We just quit eating our meal and left. Girl at front never came to check on us. We would have reported the issue if she had but we still would have left. Not a good idea to ever complain and wait for a replacement. 😉
