Sorry Lake Todd. $40.00 for 3 pieces of flounder huss puppies, cheeseburger fries and 2 Pepsis plus the flounder is more skin than anything the chessburger is lacking in condiments.

I was super excited to try this place as I am gluten intolerant and was dying to try hush puppies! We drove 45 minutes from Charlotte and the experience was absolutely horrible. We stood at the entry way for a solid 10 minutes before a waitress annoyingly asked us if we were there for take out. She begrudgingly told us to sit wherever we wanted. We sat with our two toddlers and finally met our waitress who didn’t say hello or even fake a smile (the entire time we were there). Our meals took almost 40 minutes to arrive despite the place being no where near full. At this point our toddlers were restless and the other waitresses were making faces to their tables indicating our toddlers “bad” behavior (who were really just being bored 3 and 1 year olds). When our food finally came it was bland and mediocre at best. Between the way we were treated and the bland food we won’t be returning. Don’t let the excitement of gluten free fried food excite you. It truly isn’t worth it.

This place does gluten free fish camp style meals to perfection! I had fish, oysters, shrimp and amazing hush puppies. We will be repeat customers. Note: they get cross contact and are celiac safe 😊❤️

We walked in and was told sit wherever you want. We were given menus and asked for drink orders. When she brought the drinks, I had asked for water with no lemon and it was wrong. My husband said I asked for water and didn't get it. At that point we were told the Water was $1 and they charge for everything. I Thought she was kidding but we did get charged $1 for the cups of water. If your restaurant chooses not to use glasses and order paper cups why would you tell your customers that someone has to pay for them. Well honestly I feel like that is cost of doing business, if you choose not to use real cups or glasses. I was really not happy when the other table of people said can we get two cups of to go water and they were not charged. On to the food- the catfish was pretty tasty, the slaw needs work. Shrimp, fries and hushpuppies were just ok. For our waitress to charge us for cups of water, that was a huge turnoff for me and I will not be coming back. They were getting ready to close and I saw waitresses putting the chairs on the table and none of the tables were being wiped off and that reminded me why when we walked in that our table was not clean as well.

We ate there for the 2nd time in a month and the food was great. Both Cindy McCannon McClain and myself had the Fisherman's Platter. The fillet flounder was delicious but so was the shrimp & oysters. Another trip will be planned soon.

I wish I could give this place zero stars. Lake Todd Fish Camp is absolutely disgusting. I came here hoping for a peaceful, enjoyable experience, but instead, I ended up with food poisoning from something I ate at their restaurant. I’m not sure what it was, but I know for a fact that the sickness I got was specifically from eating fish — the kind of illness you can only get from improperly handled or contaminated fish.

The whole place is filthy. The dining area was sticky, the tables weren’t wiped down properly, and the smell in the air was revolting. The staff didn’t seem to care about cleanliness at all. I thought maybe it was just a bad day, but after I ate the fish — which, in hindsight, should have been a red flag based on the place’s overall condition — I started feeling nauseous almost immediately. I ended up throwing up for hours and couldn’t even leave my cabin because I was so sick. I felt like I was dying.

It’s honestly unbelievable that they still operate. It’s clear that they don’t take any precautions when handling food. I’ve eaten fish at many places, and I’ve never gotten sick like this before. This is a dangerous health hazard, and I’m so disgusted by this experience. When I tried to tell the staff about what happened, they were completely dismissive, like it was my fault for eating there.

I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. It’s unsanitary, unsafe, and clearly doesn’t care about customer health. I’m lucky I didn’t end up in the hospital. I’ll never return to Lake Todd Fish Camp, and I’d advise others to stay far, far away.

Food is good, service and atmosphere are typical of an old fish camp. The restaurant has been there since 1962. CASH ONLY business. No desserts served at this time. Open Thursday - Saturday 4pm - 8:30pm

This is a traditional Southern fish camp and it lives up to that billing. Menu is simple - its focus is on fried fish and it does it well. Service is friendly; they make you feel like family which is another hallmark of a traditional fish camp. Nothing fancy - yes, food is served on Chinet plates but if that helps keep their costs down, more power to them because the prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of food you get. A reviewer here complained about having to use plastic utensils - we had real silverware on our visit but we wouldn’t have been upset if we’d had plastic utensils because again, it’s a FISH CAMP. A warning - you should check your citified expectations at the door! Be sure to read about the history of the restaurant and the building and take a look at the gun on display at the cash register! (Don’t worry, it’s under glass and is inoperable - part of a crazy story you’ll read about.). Also, they don’t take credit cards so BRING CASH! But come on up and enjoy a delicious fried seafood platter!
