Excellent no frills casual seafood restaurant, market, and bar. Order at the counter and sit down, and the buzzer they give you will vibrate when your order is ready to pick up at the window. We had Crab Cakes - delicious and flavorful with the onions and peppers but not packed with filler. Fried Okra actually had taste to it. Corn Nuggets were tasty and fried nicely. Steamed Clams - hot, plump, and tasty served with butter. Rockfish tacos and shrimp tacos (Tues. Special) - flavorful, freshly fried, and topped with fresh pico de gallo. Booths were comfortable. Very friendly staff. Fresh seafood market looked enticing. This is our second time being here and it's a great stop either entering in or exiting North from the OBX... TRUCK PARKING TOO!!

Parking: Truck parking beside restaurant it seems

So today I had the she crab soup. I usually have ordered this once before. I ordered a small and told ask the cashier how much that
Would be she said $6.59 . I said I hope it fill me up and the kitchen gave me half a pint container of soup that was there idea of a small!! It was less than 8 oz of soup for $6.59 !! Way overpriced and a deceptive way to sell soup to customers I am a long time customer of frog island and They are no longer my go to seafood restaurant for the Currituck area !

Update!!!! I have since returned to eat for a quick meal and I ordered a crab cake sandwich with fries. The cooks didn’t even handful serving of fries on my plate and the crab cake was burnt! This place charged me 18.00 for this garbage and they rip you off
On their servings don’t eat at Frog Island!!! The people in the kitchen are illegals and they don’t know
How to do their job!

There was no service, You looked at them plastic menu, and I ordered the shrimp with scallops two side The first side dish was black beans salsa. The second one was hush puppies. They gave me a plastic disk that. lights up to let you know your order is ready. you go up to the counter and you pick up the food you ordered when I picked up the food you could tell that the grease that was dirty because, The shrimp in the scallops was dark I try to overlook this because , I had a friend with me and I didn’t want to embarrass her or myself it wasn’t the first time I was there , I was disappointed . I looked at the plate. It was not appetizing the first time I’ve been there, but will be the last time I’ve got better service going drive-through I paid $23.00 for something that was not even worth $10 totally disappointed that’s why I gave it a rating of one totally disappointed they would never see my face again. I come all the way from Suffolk, Virginia. I was better off going to Captain D’s drive-through and got better service and pay half of the price. I noticed that North Carolina take the advantages of the tourist overpriced items should be a shame they

We had been passing this place several times and decided to give lunch a try. The atmosphere and service were great. The things we ordered were ehh. I got the oyster po boy, and she crab soup. He got pork sandwiches. The pork was nice. Not vinegar based, it seemed. Good flavor. The po boy was not a po boy it was about 6 small oysters on a hamburger bun. Oysters tasted good. Salt, pepper, and mayo enhanced to flavor. The she crab soup..ehh. almost flavorless. Salt, pepper, and a crumbled cracker helped. Quite a few crab shells was but hey, maybe they cracked the crabs themselves?
My bottom line with places to eat is always, would I come back and give it another try. For this one, my answer is yeah, I'd give it another try. If I'm in the area. Would I drive the 30 minutes to go there, maybe not. If I do, I will try something different.

Stopped in to buy fresh seafood on the way home from the beach. Didn’t realize they had a restaurant too. Glad they did because I didn’t want to cook… lol. Ordered the jumbo shrimp basket and seafood platter. Let me just tell you… The food was cooked fresh, seasoned perfectly, and delicious. Every single bite was tasty… even have real butter for the hush puppies. Prices were very reasonable and portions were generous. It’s not fancy. Beach attire is completely acceptable and your dinner will be served on a styrofoam plate or in a paper basket. But I didn’t care about that at all.
We enjoyed every bite and there was a lot left to bring home. We’ll definitely be stopping in again.

Shrimp salad is the best! Unique with a delicate minced texture, sweeter taste, and a bit of spice-- similar to Old Bay, which I'd hope for with my seafood. It's addicting, and I'm a picky seafood eater. We always stop on the way down to OBX-- and sometimes on the way home-- for their shrimp salad and whatever fresh fish is on hand. Rockfish bites are excellent, too. Fried shrimp, oysters, bean salad, string beans, cole slaw, and hush puppies are other favorites. Hubby recommends their tacos as well. For a couple of Marylanders who only eat crab cakes and streamed crabs in our own state (because they're rarely done "correctly" anywhere outside of MD, lol), we love Frog Island's crab cakes and steamed crabs! (So grateful for this. You don't know!!!) Friendly and efficient staff. Open 12-13 hrs per day right now (summer), starting at 8am, which is super convenient. This is basically a fish market with casual, limited table seating indoors under fluorescent lights, and picnic tables outdoors alongside the parking lot; you're not going here for atmosphere, you're going here for A+ quality seafood, either for a quick bite or carryout. It doesn't disappoint.

Parking: Gravel lot surrounded by lots of open, grassy areas that long-traveled dogs especially appreciate.

I ordered online which advertised curbside pickup. When I get there, I called them to tell them I was there and they informed me they don't do curbside. Why advertise it if you don't do it. The did is always amazing, but sometimes the service is questionable.
