I'm an eastern North Carolina native and have had all the BBQ. I love it all, truly. Each of them have something to admire; their flavor, their story, their location. But none beat Grady's. This is, in my opinion, the best BBQ in the state. It's perfectly cooked and seasoned. It's not greasy. It just melts in your mouth. Everything I have ever had from here is just incredible, as are the people that run it. And do yourself a favor, save room for some banana pudding. Long live Grady's BBQ!

My sister and I read the accolades about Grady's Bbq, so we made a special trip to dine at this positively-reviewed restaurant. When we entered, my sister was asked a question by one of the workers about the sweatshirt that she was wearing. The sweatshirt displayed my sister's alma mater. This led to a series of insults by the worker who probably thought that she was being witty and entertaining. However, she came across as mean-spirited. In spite of her, we placed our orders. The food is not the best in eastern NC. It is not the worst. We admire the history of the restaurant. However, we neither enjoyed nor appreciated our visit. We likely will not return.

Honestly, they have the best BBQ ever! Sometimes it's hotter than other times. However, it's the cleanest bbq no fat or loaded down with grease. Again, it's the best BBQ there is! They do a great job getting all that Q out to us that love it! They hustle for sure! Go try it...get you some!

I’ve eaten a lot of barbecue in my life and this is by far some of the best I’ve ever had. The flavor is amazing and you can tell they take much pride in their product. The slaw is the absolute best I’ve ever tasted. We got bbq and slaw to take home but should have ordered 5 times as much as we did. If you are ever looking for great authentic NC BBQ look no further because Grady’s is the realest.

I cringe a little writing a review of a place like this. People often put me on the spot asking my opinion of the best BBQ in the Carolinas (as if there's decent BBQ elsewhere😂). I never pick a favorite, but just between me and you, this is it. Then when the NY Times epicurean tour bus pulls up here, I die a little. The place is too special for mass exposure, especially to a bunch of damned Yankees who want to check a box. But Steve and Geri, the owners, got old several years ago, and I just don't know how long they can keep doing this. I just keep going back, thinking it won't be as good this time. But the Q is still moist and woodsy, with a hint of smoke. Steve is still nearly killing himself with the hours of the day (really, night) that it takes to do this. The slaw is still perfectly crunchy, tangy -- making me choose between eating it on its own, or mixing a little in with the BBQ. And me, a stupid city boy, still being received respectfully by the other customers and the women behind the counter, who have forgotten more about really top-notch BBQ than I'll ever know, even though I've been quoted nationally about the stuff. This is the true 'cue. Seek it out. Now. Tell Steve and Geri hello, and thank them for all they've done for this concept.
