I’m in town staying at the Inner Banks Bed and Breakfast, and they recommended Downtown Roots while I waited for my room to be ready. I’m so glad they did!
The food is absolutely delicious, and the hospitality is amazing. I never felt rushed, and the cashier was super sweet, answering all of my questions. The sandwich had so much meat, and the potato soup quickly became my favorite—I’ll probably grab something to take back with me for the trip home!
If you happen to be in Edenton, North Carolina, definitely make Downtown Roots a pit stop. It’s a wonderful experience all around and truly delicious!

By far, the best sandwich (Blazing Bird) that I’ve ever had. Unique sandwiches and bowls, with a focus on fresh and tasty but also good for you. Owner was present and very friendly, engaging the staff and customers alike. My 7 year old finished her lunch for the first time ever. We were so happy to find this gem in the heart of downtown Edenton!
