If you've never had the pleasure of a soda-counter lunch in small town America, it's right here in Edenton. I'm talking to all my fellow tourists visiting this charming downtown stretch. This is the sort of experience you see in the cinema, tasty honest food with a side of gossip, local regulars popping in to catch up on life and the welcoming staff asking how the kids are. It's hamburgers and hotdogs and milkshakes with a side of classic Americana, and a whole heaping of national pride. Ice cream and stories, flags and orangeade (and really damn good, fresh squeezed, proper syrup orangeade, I must add). If you were swept up by the sort of old romance the downtown area shows in spades you should stop by the Soda Shoppe for a bite and give them your dime.

Do not recommend. Food was not good. Burger was clearly microwaved. Warm sandwiches were still cold. Could hear the kitchen staff making jokes about being sick, but still having to work. Nobody really wearing a mask even with statements like that. Unfortunately, that was after we got our food.

7 friends together from the Wilmington area. Lunch was awesome. Pimento cheese, tuna and chicken salad all wonderful. Wait staff was awesome and hard working to make sure all orders were correct. We would definitely visit again.

I had the pimento cheese sandwich and has a slight kick to it and was delicious. My husband loved his cuban sandwich. The portions are perfect - not too big and include a side. Service was great. Perfect when you want a simple bite.
